Summary:
This position is responsible for the timely and effective planning associated to mine/ facility maintenance and/or capital improvements. Planner is capable of developing plans and maintenance activities for 10 to 24 (up to 24 is acceptable) craft personnel. Assists supervision in ensuring that associated timetables, efficiencies, production, quality and safety objectives are achieved. The planner is responsible for identifying the elements of an executable work package that should contain but not limited to the following: the work plan, the necessary parts, tools, permits, resources and labor to do the job. The end result will be identification of the process and requirements for each task planned. Conducts business with honesty, respect, patience and courtesy.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited, to the following:

- Coordinates and manages the work order system.
- Convert Work Requests to Work Orders and Create Work Orders.
- Screen incoming work orders, identify the scope and required level of planning and prioritize the work.
- Conducts field walks to identify work needed and document the requirements.
- Monitor work orders and associated back log – to ensure all information is correct.
- Determine if engineering change is required and initiate the MOC process if necessary.
- Assists supervision through an effective planning process to ensure work is completed on schedule.
- Create parts list, associated costs and ensures availability of parts for each project. Ensure parts are delivered and available in conjunction with project schedules.
- Interfaces between operations, engineering and maintenance for scheduling purposes.
- Assists purchasing as required to meet project requirements.
- Lists all permits required to complete scheduled jobs, follows up, and ensures permits are in accordance to plan.
- Provide backup and support for the I&E Technician
Manage the Scheduling of Work
- Works with Planning Maintenance Coordinator, engineering, maintenance and operations groups in developing work plans (weekly, monthly, capital and project plans).
- Develops plan considering, operational schedules, labor and material for maintenance, shutdowns and capital projects and conducts related planning meetings.
- Develops and maintains weekly, shutdown, and long-range schedules.
- Maintains and utilizes back log effectively for planning.
- Develop a plan and makes preparations to execute work orders effectively.
- Assists in revising schedule for adjustment to operational needs.
- Drives for improvement in safety, equipment reliability, and completed work.
- Ensures that costs and hours are correctly scheduled for repetitive work, Preventative Maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance.
Parts Materials Personnel Management
- Manage Bills of Materials (BOM) keeping them current.
- Writes accurate, clear and concise purchase requests and acquires parts for planned jobs. Creates large and/or small project parts list and calculate related costs.
- Identify parts and group in selected areas. Assists supervision to assure that proper number of personnel and parts are at work location as per schedule.
- Monitors inventory of critical parts notifies warehouse of problem in a proactive manner. May acquire parts using CMMS software as required.
- Ensure parts availability coincides with work schedule.
- Reviews stores issues and P.O. receipts for accuracy.
- Maintains equipment files and critical parts list in an orderly fashion.
Long Range Planning
- Provides information related to scope and justification for capital requests. Assists supervision in monitoring the budget for the capital.
- Helps develop plans for capital work.
- Advises supervision of potential budget challenges for each area and ways to standardize critical parts.
- Make recommendations related to project engineering.
Supervision
- Serve as back up in the absence of the absence of the electrical supervisor.
- May serve as back up in the absence of their supervisor.
- May serve in other roles during outages and capital projects.
- Provide technical expertise when needed.
- Be available to provide on call assistance when needed.
Organization/Departmental Responsibility
- Writes work procedures, equipment specifications, preventive predictive maintenance procedures and other technical documents using computer and word processing function.
- Creates parts lists, cost estimates, cost summary and other tabulated information on large project using multi-craft skill levels.
- Develops, organizes and maintains departmental equipment files both hard copy and computerized, department procedures, drawings, reference materials etc. for easy access and timely availability.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preference for a two-year degree or related certification
- 5 years’ experience as a Planner or Supervisor in one or more of the following; electrical, mechanical, mill or conveyance.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC controls or similar control systems; experience with instrumentation processes, experience with fiber optics.
- Experience with MSHA permissibility requirements.
- Experience with NEC requirements.
- Operates with high degree of autonomy, demonstrates effective leadership and provides electrical and/or mechanical planning for site.
- Experience with EAM/CMMS systems.
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
- Spreadsheets and word processing (Excel, Word).
- Ability to efficiently perform internet searches and research.
- Ability to read and interpret vendor manuals, drawings and blueprints.
- Project management software.
- Ability to learn and apply maintenance best practices.
- Ability to plan and organize tasks.
- Self-directed – able to work towards specific goals and objectives with limited oversight.
