Darling Ingredients is looking for a Plant Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Lewiston-Woodville, NC. This is a key role that will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing plant equipment and machinery, in order to ensure safe, timely and efficient operation of all plant machinery and equipment, under supervision.

We have openings on our 2nd shift, 7:00pm – 7:00am, working 4 days on/3 days off.

If you have the following, we want to hear from you:

• High school diploma or certificate from trade school preferred.
• Ability to read and write on a 9th grade level required.
• Analytical thinking skills, problem solving ability required.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good computer application skills in a network environment.
• Able to read blueprints, preferred.
• Experience in screw conveyor operation and repair, gear box and motor operation and repair, and general industrial troubleshooting.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain all plant equipment to ensure safe, continual and efficient operation.
• Ensures that periodic and preventive maintenance are accomplished according to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager’s direction.
• Comply with all safety and good Manufacturing practices.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Expected to perform other job duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.

Working Environment:

• Hot and wet industrial plant environment.
• Must be able to deal with strong odors.
• Must be willing to work all shifts including overtime and weekend work as needed.
