Job description
The plant manager is responsible for the overall management of the plant operations. The plant manager will ensure that staffing is adequate and all new staff members are trained on all aspects of plant production. In addition, the plant manager will oversee the daily employee schedule. The plant manager will review daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics and recommend areas of improvement. The plant manager will oversee all safety aspects of the plant. The plant manager bridges communication between outside production and inside packaging regarding capacities, and overall plant needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage staffing and resources for both inside and outside plant operations
- Hiring as needed to staff all shifts
- Training all employees on roles and responsibilities
- Scheduling and planning staffing needs and hours
- Time card approval
- Overall operational metrics management
- Reviewing all metrics daily for accuracy and completeness
- Analyzing metrics to understand performance
- Utilizing metrics to plan staff scheduling and production needs
- Production planning
- Working with operations management to forecast and plan production schedule
- Communicate with inside and outside production to plan for resources and needs
- Understanding scheduling related to production deadlines
- Efficiency management
- Analyze and understand day to day operations to offer efficiency improvement suggestions
- Find points of deficiency that can be improved with equipment or layout changes
- Understanding full staffing needs for each line or equipment
- Goal setting to maximize output and on-time completion
- Develop and refine additional systems to manage and track efficiency and output
- Inventory planning and management
- Overseeing and managing daily inventory of supplies and equipment
- Partnering with outside production and procurement to ensure raw materials availability
- Plan for scheduling for raw materials production based on forecasted demand (chips, chunks, logs)
- Auditing inventory, overseeing cycle counts as directed by upper management
- Overall plant operations
- Safety management and OSHA compliance
- Routine maintenance checks on equipment
- Goal setting by department and production line
- Operational reporting to upper management
- Understanding and reviewing space management for optimal warehouse flow
- Work with management regarding employee issues and disciplinary actions
- Additional responsibilities based on company needs

- Ability to operate plant equipment as needed (skid steer, forklift, etc)

Pay will depend on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
