Join our global TUI Musement Port Operations team in New England as a Port Operations Manager and provide a high level of service for your internal and external customers.
Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services is a specialized business providing cruise ship handling services to passenger lines in destinations throughout the world. For this position, you will be supporting our cruise lines clients with their daily operations in the Port of Boston.
ABOUT THE JOB
  • The port operations manager is responsible for all port operations based in the New England region. This regional position will be held accountable for a dedicated team of port agents across 3 states. Our agency team members are the main point of contact with the vessel’s Principal, the ship’s Master, officers, and crew and is responsible for assuring that all agency requirements associated with the vessel’s port of call are managed satisfactorily. These requirements include ship operations, adherence to U.S. and state governmental regulations, pricing, contracting, approval of expenses, and risk management.
  • The port operations manager is expected to independently oversee the New England staff while also attending to vessel operations during our peak season.
  • Manage of an operational schedule for the entire region.
  • Maintaining proper staffing levels and interviewing and onboarding new team members as required to service our clients.
  • Responsibilities will include, but not limited to - arranging pilots, line handlers and stevedores, coordinating ship clearance with government officials, making transportation arrangements for crew onboard, managing delivery of provisioning for the cruise ship, etc.
  • Interacting and developing strategic business relationships with our clients and key stakeholders in the New England area.
  • Actively taking ownership for cost saving strategies without negatively affecting the level of service
  • As required, remotely support Intercruises’ port operation teams with monitoring and responding to email requests from various regional email accounts
  • Regional travel to New England ports and beyond as required to support the business needs
  • Performing accounting and billing reconciliations tasks for the entire New England regions and all staff assigned.
  • Work in close collaboration with suppliers to reach agreements to ensure we deliver safe, healthy, and sustainable service
ABOUT YOU
  • You are a strong manager who is experienced in the tourism business.
  • You have knowledge and understanding of the cruise line industry and their operations in Boston & New England (or other cruise-oriented US ports)
  • You hold or will be eligible to hold a valid TWIC card and State Driver’s License
  • You can work independently with little direct supervision
  • You demonstrate problem solving abilities and the independent judgment necessary to manage staffing situations as well as ever changing vessel operations
  • You can work irregular hours, including weekend duty and evenings. Must be available to answer phone calls and travel should the business require it
  • You are an individual with excellent communication skills. Strong verbal and written skills in English as well as any additional languages that could prove advantageous.
  • You can work timely, efficiently, and precisely. You are a high-quality decisions maker, even when working under pressure
  • You have a pro-active vessel service mindset with a clear focus on quality and efficiency
  • You will have the ability to carry applicable paperwork, laptop computer, cellular phone, small packages (less than 25lbs) and be able to navigate irregular surfaces.
