The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:

Pratt & Whitney Lobbyist

This position supports the Pratt & Whitney business and RTX Federal Affairs Priorities in support of commercial and defense program priorities, with a particular focus on commercial aviation and military defense issues before Congressional authorization and appropriations committees. This role is responsible for fostering relationships with Congressional, U.S. Government and business leaders while raising RTX’s profile and communicating the company’s strategic business interests. This position will be a member of the Global Government Relations team, supporting the Federal Affairs function for Raytheon Technologies Corporation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company’s position on civil, commercial and defense issues on budgetary, legislative and regulatory affairs before Members of Congress, their staffs and congressional committees
  • Engage and integrate the utilization of outside consultants to promote mission success
  • Attend hearings, conferences, meetings, and other special events in both Washington, D.C., and in Members’ districts and states, to represent the company as needed
  • Engage with businesses to better understand their programs/products, the needs of internal customers
  • Monitor congressional activities and take action when appropriate, to ensure Collins and RTX corporate interests are protected and advanced
  • Help identify and support policymaking opportunities that advance the Corporation’s business objectives
  • Help coordinate and leverage RTX’s employee and operational presence to maximize influence in a particular state or district
  • Work with operating units as appropriate to build awareness, contacts, and working relationships between company personnel and public officials
  • Serve as a consultant and advisor to RTX’s senior leadership on matters involving decisions, which will affect the achievement of corporate goals
  • Advise senior GGR leadership regarding market opportunities, strategic alliances, and regulatory issues that may affect the achievement of corporate goals
  • Support RTX and BU business development initiatives including providing market intelligence, identifying and assessing opportunities
  • Represent senior management to external audiences; represent the corporation in government-business forums and organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key government customers/officials to identify opportunities of shared/aligned interest, shape requirements & influence regulations in support of RTX products
  • Responsibilities for the completion of specific goals, objectives and tasks related to this position as assigned by cognizant management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Congress working as a legislative staff member on a committee or in a personal office
  • Experience working aerospace and defense related legislative issues with the civil and commercial authorization and appropriations committees
  • Collaborative, team player working across government relations, business and other corporate functions
  • Strong writer and strategic thinker who can translate complex issues to both the Congress and the business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to support Congressional visits and other events necessary for GGR support
  • Self-starter who is able to manage fast-paced and dynamic environment with the GRR team
  • Ability to build and lead coalitions with other stakeholders in support of legislative strategy
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a lobbyist on civil, commercial aerospace, and defense issues in Washington, DC
  • Established and trusted personal network within Congress, Administration, Department of Defense, Agencies, Associations, Think Tanks – the greater Washington D.C. political operational area
  • Entrepreneurial operator – a self-starter able to utilize guidance and intent to create opportunities that advance the team and grow revenue
  • Demonstrated ability to influence/persuade stakeholders both inside the organization and out
  • Hold a Security Clearance, or have the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.

Location:

  • Must be willing to work onsite in Arlington, VA.
