Catholic Charities is seeking Associate Therapist to provide exceptional services to children, parents, and teachers in a preschool setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Associate Therapist to obtain valuable supervised experience and training in a supportive environment. Our team of Clinical Supervisors, Therapists, and Administrators have a wealth of knowledge and experience to help foster your development as an Associate Therapist. Our Preschool Services Therapists work onsite in Headstart and Set-4-School classrooms primarily in the Riverside area. While your main objective is working within our preschool programs, you may also have the opportunity to provide in-office (virtual) counseling services, which makes for a well-rounded experience. Whether you are a new grad or an experienced Associate, this opportunity is well suited for a therapist who is passionate about providing services to children, individuals, couples, and families while enhancing their professional development as well.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Under the direction of the Pre-School Services Coordinator, the Pre-School Services Therapist will engage in practices that are responsive to the identified behavioral and emotional concerns of each child, or group of children, and will include ongoing communication and collaboration with teachers, parents, the program development specialist, social workers and other authorized interests. Therapists will meet with parents in reference to their child’s emotional/behavioral concerns and will work with parents to access needed community resources. The goal is to provide a continuum of early identification and early intervention to promote social and emotional competence and decrease the development of disruptive behavior disorders among children ages 3-5 in the classroom, as well as promote parent collaboration & education. The Therapist will work at three or more sites in or near the City of Riverside implementing services as needed to include, but not limited to, behavior interventions strategies, parenting skills and classroom management strategies for school staff.

This is a part time position (Up to 28 hours per week) and may include morning and afternoon schedules. Additional in-office counseling opportunities for youth, adults, and families may also be available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with pre-school staff (teachers, school personnel, parents, program partners, etc.) to provide supportive mental health services.
  • Provide group and/or individual attention to children, teachers, or parents to teach early childhood socio/emotional development using evidence based curriculum.
  • Model and teach adaptive coping strategies.
  • Collaborates with parents and children to facilitate the behavioral change process.
  • Represents Catholic Charities with professionalism while collaborating with school staff to provide on-site services.
  • Complete and submit accurate and detailed paperwork as required.
  • Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and local pre-school guidelines.
  • Conducts all assigned duties in a professional, ethical manner that protects the rights and dignity of all clients.
  • Attend weekly supervision as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or in a related Mental Health field from an accredited school, which qualifies the applicant as an associate level therapist (AMFT, ASW, or APCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Previous experience and/or proven knowledge of 3-5 aged developmental and social/emotional needs preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Awareness of legal and ethical mandates pertinent to the role of an associate level therapist.
  • An ability to work independently while demonstrating the highest level of professional integrity and ethical behavior.
  • An understanding of crisis management with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in critical situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT

Includes but not limited to considerable use of arms and legs, whole body movement, walking, lifting, and stooping, standing, sitting, lifting and carrying up to 30lbs., pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, hearing, speaking, seeing, reaching, repetitive forward bending, repetitive arm/hand motions, prolonged gripping of an item, repetitive hand/finger movements, sense of touch/feel.

This position will work within a classroom environment with children ages 3-5.

This position requires the ability to travel between school sites within the city of Riverside and Corona.
