In accordance with the educational philosophy of Temple Shalom Preschool, the Lead Teacher will develop the program along established guidelines and provide a safe, nurturing, positive classroom experience. The Lead Teacher works with the Assistant Teacher as a team to implement daily teaching and learning activities.

· Using the Florida Early Learning Standards, incorporate content and activities that foster social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive development that integrate key areas of content including literacy, math, science, technology, creative expression and the arts, health and safety, and social studies in areas both secular and religious

· Use the Teaching Strategies - Creative Curriculum to arrange lesson plans, and create monthly calendars for distribution to parents

· Plan curriculum in a manner that reflects responsiveness to family home values and home language

· Incorporate materials to implement curriculum that reflect the lives of the children yet also reflect the diversity found in society

· Use a variety of teaching strategies that include a broad range of approaches and responses

· Interact verbally and non-verbally with children during the day, at meal/snack times, and engage in play with children on the playground

· Sit with and engage in conversation with children at all snack/meal times

· Maintain a positive physical and emotional educational environment

· Use assessments to: identify children’s interests and need; plan instruction; adapt teaching practices; and communicate with families on an ongoing basis

· Integrate assessment information with curriculum goals to support individualized learning

· Create a portfolio file of samples of children’s work, to be used for assessment and at parent conferences

· Review and follow Developmentally Appropriate Practices

· Collect and maintain updated information concerning children and submit changes to office

· Submit written request for classroom supplies and repairs

· Set up and follow a consistent daily routine and post routine in room

· Be proactive in classroom management strategies, considering attention span and age, and strive to anticipate and redirect to avoid developmentally inappropriate behavior

· Focus on positive behavior and use encouragement more than praise to help children develop a feeling of self-worth.

· Foster children’s emotional well-being through positive social conversations, eye contact, tone of voice, and smiles

· Continually strive to build positive relationships with families

· Use Brightwheel throughout the day as the major platform for communication between teachers, staff, and parents.

· Maintain regular communication with parents by scheduling meetings, and maintain records of all communication, including formal and informal meetings, in-person conversations, e-mails, and phone calls

· Attend scheduled meetings, programs, and in-service trainings

· Arrange for substitute coverage with Administrative Coordinator two weeks in advance for non-emergency absences

· Distribute responsibilities equally and supervise assistant teacher in a professional, consistent manner

· MUST have required 45 hours of DCF training completed or started by first day. Must give office a copy of completed transcripts and certificates

· Submit all DCF required paperwork, personal health forms, as well as other requested documentation promptly

· Maintain staff credentials, according to DCF guidelines

· MUST do a background fingerprint check prior to start date

· Attend professional development sessions, accruing a minimum of 10 hours by April 30

-MUST be flexible with schedule

· Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs., stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, sit on the floor, and rise again, and be willing to exert some physical strength in terms of classroom environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
