STATUS: Exempt / Full Time

BASIC PURPOSE
Responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing effective cause-related promotional collateral to support the Del Oro Divisional Headquarters and its constituent units; Requires strong graphic design, the ability to write clearly and persuasively, a capacity to identify and interact with unique constituencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, implement and coordinate effective print, media, and graphic design projects that highlight the unique programs and services of The Salvation Army.
- Prepare collateral materials that support proposal writing conducted by development staff and the officers that they support.
- In times of disaster or emergencies, serve in a support capacity to the principal Public Information Officer for Divisional Headquarters and the development team.
- Establish and cultivate strong working relationships with key media and other public sources throughout the Del Oro Division.
- Participate in the development and implementation of direct mail messaging that will highlight to local audiences The Army’s impact in their communities.
- Assist Corps Officers, their staff, and Advisory Boards to maximize local community media exposure for Salvation Army programs.
- As needed, design, produce and present written and graphical material to promote and advance public understanding of Salvation Army activities, programs, and services.
- Participate as a member of the Development Team as it works to improve Divisional fundraising efforts by contributing ideas that relate to improving communications with Planned Giving, Major Gifts, and Direct Mail donors as well determining the best way to increase public awareness of The Salvation Army programs and activities prior to initiating fundraising campaigns.
- Work closely with the direct marketing staff at other Divisional and Territorial Headquarters.
- Perform other assignments that may be reasonably asked in the furtherance of this position to the benefit of The Salvation Army
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

- Strong background in Adobe Suite with emphasis on graphic design and print layout.
- A track record of success in the production of print materials that may include brochures, catalogs, packaging, annual reports, or digital communications.

- Maintain a high level of honesty, credibility, integrity, enthusiasm, and insight.
- Be self-motivated, articulate, persuasive, energetic, detailed, and adaptable.

- Possess organizational and time-management skills and be able to multi-task.

- Be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds at a time.
- Be willing to travel with occasional overnight accommodation.
- Some evening and weekend work required
- Travel in and around the Division is required
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- BA or BS Degree from accredited university or college in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, English, or related fields.
- Minimum of three years of experience in public relations and marketing, public media, communications, or related fields.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with computer systems, especially Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in developing, promoting, and implementing a marketing plan for products or services.
- Experienced storyteller, capable of writing press releases, articles, promotional and ad copy, and social media copy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to operate a telephone.
- Ability to lift to 35 lbs.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
- Miscellaneous office equipment including but not limited to staplers, three-hole punch, etc.
