Purpose of Position:

Avon Protection Ceradyne, a subsidiary of Avon Protection, is looking for a Manufacturing Controls Engineer. This position will be responsible for manipulating data from our manufacturing processes for analysis by the Operations & Quality teams by using ‘off-the-shelf’ tools (MES, SQL, Power BI) for development of data storage and visualization. The position will take the concept of quality driven data analysis to a deployable state for use in all Helmet manufacturing sites. Candidate will collaborate with the Prototyping, Production, and Program Management teams to deliver world class solutions.
The Production Supervisor- 2nd shift supervises and coordinates activities of production workers in 2nd and 3rd shift.
Essential duties and/or Functions:
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates staff requirements.
  • Manage traffic of materials on the shop floor for manufacturing. Place material requisitions as required to support manufacturing.
  • Interprets company policies and safety regulations and ensures the department's compliance.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and work orders to delegate and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Initiates necessary training processes for all department employees.
  • Initiates and maintains Lean Manufacturing practices such as DFT, 5S + Safety, andTPM
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 2nd and 3rd shift employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Performs inventory management activities such as counting.
Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory capacity
Preferred / Desired Skills or Experiences:
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and production technologies
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5s
  • Proficient computer skills including Word and Excel
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing operation
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Salem, NH is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
