The role - Program Manager:

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Innovation, the Program Manager is responsible for strategy, development, and council-wide delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls K-12 through focused, purposeful flagship programming. The Program Manager will develop high impact program opportunities that address social and emotional learning, as well as multicultural engagement. The Program Manager will create programs, write curriculum, facilitate programs, and oversee program experiences including but not limited to financial literacy and entrepreneurship; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curricula; healthy living; arts and cultural awareness. This Manager will also be responsible for developing high impact event opportunities that reach all areas of our council and provide one-of-a-kind girl experiences.

Location: Preferably our Northwest suburbs with travel to other locations to deliver program required.

Hours: Program Manager hours will vary, including evenings and weekends.

What you will be doing:

  • Program Development, Management and Delivery – This position is responsible for the scheduling of programs throughout the year. You are also in charge of the expert delivery and execution of programs. You are responsible for creating new and innovative programs as it relates to the business with a plan to create a robust program portfolio. Programs will focus on girl and adult programming. Adult programming will strive to better equip troop leaders and Girl Scout volunteers with the skills they need to lead Girl Scouts experiences.
  • People Management – This position is responsible for scheduling and management of volunteers as it relates to their business. You are also responsible for managing and delegating to staff and volunteers at large program events.
  • Market Development – Develop targeted marketing collateral with inclusive and universal design to embrace diversity among girls and adults. As such, reaching out to troops, leaders, and area volunteers answering questions and providing information as needed.
  • Budget Administration – This position will be responsible for the tracking of a budget to correspond to all aspects of business delivery, implementation of the budget, and monitoring of all expenditures within the budget.
  • Leverage Partnerships and Alliances – The Program Manager may be asked to support partnerships by developing programming or planning events. These partnerships will support the Manager’s efforts to lead the creation of innovative programs easily integrated into the Girl Scout Leadership Experience including collateral support for comprehensive rollouts to staff and volunteers in the council.
  • Grant Administration and Management – Work in concert with the Fund Development team to pursue grants and ensure all grant management forms and reporting are executed with precision and thoroughness.
  • Additional Responsibilities – Perform other duties as required or assigned.

What you will bring along:

  • Candidates must have 3-4 years of prior teaching, youth programming, or curriculum writing experience.
  • Candidates must enjoy working with youth in grades/levels K-12, specifically focusing on younger girls.
  • Experience in adapting content for diverse and multicultural youth audiences strongly preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated expertise to innovate for results, design and implement measurable programs for growth, and to utilize defined and finite resources.
  • Candidate must have the ability to collaborate, work on multiple projects, and meet deadlines with little supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, presenting concise, and clear information to diverse internal/external stakeholders; including reports, written communications, and presentations to key audiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in customer service with high standards of timeliness and responsiveness.
  • Proven experience participating in cross-functional work teams as either a project leader or project team member.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel.
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented.
  • Must have a driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Candidate must be able to work weekends and evenings on a regular basis.
