Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is recruiting for a full-time Program Officer 1 in the Washoe County Extension office. The main purpose of this position is to coordinate and implement consumer and landscape (commercial) horticulture programs and to provide design, marketing and communications support for those programs. Duties include, but are not limited to: developing and implementing program marketing plans; distributing marketing and communications content; maintaining databases; developing and implementing program evaluations; recruiting program participants; facilitating training programs; teaching program segments as appropriate; and designing and producing print and digital content. This position requires excellent customer relations skills.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with previous experience in adult education and/or volunteer management are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
This position works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a variable schedule. Occasional evenings/weekends depending on department needs.
Compensation Grade
31 (Entry, Step 01 $20.97/hr - Step 03 $22.83/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
