POSITION SUMMARY: The sorter is responsible for the sorting of library materials.
DUTIES:
- Load and open totes and feeds items onto the induction belt.
- Arranges items in totes as they are sorted, clears full totes, scans totes with the Tote Check-In Server, and transfers processed totes to the staging area for pick-up by drivers.
- Sorts material manually as needed.
- Retrieves materials from Circulation and delivers to departments.
- Sorts new and circulating library materials by destination.
- Maintains Sorting Machine, troubleshooting when necessary.
- Escalates problem items to the Sorting and Materials Team Leader as appropriate.
- Shifts, organizes, and stages the sorting area for first-in, first-out processing.

- Must be able to move frequently throughout the work location for the majority of the shift and have the ability to safely, frequently, and independently move and handle a minimum of 60 lbs. to a minimum height of 2 feet and a minimum distance of 5 feet.
