CDP is an equal employment opportunity employer seeking diversity in qualified applicants for employment. We welcome you to inform us confidentially if you may require any special accommodation in order to participate fully in our recruitment process by sending a message to the recruiter connected to the role. They may be contacted directly by responding to any message you receive through our system after applying.

Who we are

At CDP, we are on a mission to solve our planet’s biggest environmental challenges: climate change, water scarcity and deforestation. We believe you can’t manage what you don’t measure – so we run the world’s largest environmental disclosure system. For the past two decades, our team has worked tirelessly to create a thriving economy that works for people and planet in the long term – we accomplish this by engaging the global actors who wield the greatest influence in driving environmental change: companies, cities, governments, and the capital markets.

CDP’s cascading global impact is powered by our tight-knit team of smart, savvy, curious and committed individuals, who share a common passion for creating a sustainable future. It is our people who make our work possible. And we provide our people with a working environment that empowers each individual to reach their full potential: one that is committed to equity; one that provides equal access for growth and development; and one that supports each individual throughout the full employee life cycle.

We are looking for candidates to join our Public Sector Team as 2023 Engagement Fellows. Fellows will work with our Public Authorities, Cities, and States and Regions programs to accelerate climate action and ambition across North America (US and Canada). Your mission: help us further our mission by recruiting new participants and supporting public sector actors as they disclose their environmental data and strengthen their climate policies.

Who you are

  • Must be currently eligible to work in the United States of America or Canada without company sponsorship
  • You are interested in public sector sustainability and climate action—particularly in mitigation and adaptation efforts, and green infrastructure projects
  • You are familiar with the roles that public sector entities play in climate action
  • You come up to speed quickly and independently with technical information (such as emissions targets or sector-specific public authority indicators)
  • You are outgoing with a personable attitude—developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and follow up via phone and email
  • You are comfortable using MS Excel and database software for managing participant lists and tracking engagement progress
  • You are detail-oriented, interested in contributing to improving existing operational processes, and able to take ownership over your own work while collaborating with others

Your day-to-day

  • You will recruit new participants for CDP reporting by conducting “cold call” phone outreach, sending emails, and delivering virtual presentations to local government, state/provincial, and/or public authority staff
  • You will cultivate, manage, and track relationships with participants to ensure they submit their data by the deadline
  • You will answer inbound queries about the Questionnaires and help review responses to support optimal data quality, the advancement of climate policy, and participant satisfaction
  • You will maintain and update an internal database of participants’ contact information

Please note that we do not conduct phone screens and utilize screening questions in each of our processes. You will receive the questions via email shortly after applying and they will be due at 5:00 pm ET on the recruitment closing date. Please send your answers in a PDF or Microsoft Word document in your reply to this message.
