Job Description

Candidate will be working in the Quality lab responsible for testing of different product coming off of the manufacturing line. Testing will consist of: ph testing, viscosity testing, density, % solids, and weighing samples.

Other duties will include:

• Follows Work Practices in Quality Assurance manual and compares test results to standards.
• Reports processing problems or potential problems immediately to Production Manager and Q.A. Manager.
• Reports packaging line problems or potential problems immediately to Production Manager and Q.A. Manager.
• Collects retain samples at prescribed frequency and maintains samples in an orderly fashion.
• Maintains adequate inventory of lab prepared colors and flavors.
• Maintains lab work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Performs calibration of lab equipment when assigned.
• Follow and generally keep aware of the plant GMPs and reports anything which might have a negative affect on our products or company.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) established by Q.A. Manager and safety guidelines established by Plant Management.
• Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HACCP support programs; monitors critical control points (CCPs) for pH, water activity and metal detection; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
• Performs other duties / responsibilities as assigned by Q.A. Manager.

Work Environment
Candidate needs to be comfortable with the lab being loud and strong food smells. The culture of the lab is very team oriented and has a family feel to it. The lab is very small and the candidate will be working alongside a few other technicians and then reporting to the supervisor. Dress code for the lab is casual dress and will be issued a lab coat once hired on.
