Abilities First is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator. The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for monitoring overall service provision throughout Abilities First’s children and adult programs in accordance with Abilities First’s Philosophy and Policy, our Corporate Compliance Plan, and the various State Oversight Agencies that monitor Abilities First. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will be responsible for implementation of our auditing procedures and completion of investigations as necessary. The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for providing program staff with training, guidance, and technical support as needed or requested to carry our mission forth. This position reports to the Vice President of Quality Assurance/Compliance.

Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • Conducts internal audits of all designated program areas as outlined in the Corporate Compliance Plan and the agency’s Internal Audit Policy, monitoring program areas to ensure the needs of individuals are being met through meaningful activities and interactions as well as comply with State and Federal regulations and agency policy and procedure
  • Provide recommendations to programs based on outcomes, supports implementation of the plan of corrective actions when needed
  • Takes an active role participating and presenting to the Corporate Compliance Committee
  • Offer technical assistance and guidance to staff as well as follow-up monitoring activities at the location if indicated in order to improve quality of life and/or compliance issues
  • Responds to reports of compliance concerns, referring to other responsible parties when necessary
  • Develop an understanding of the Part 624/625 Handbook, all NYS Commissioner of Educations regulations, OMH regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge and keeps updated on regulatory requirements, providing information and support to programs as needed to achieve compliance when there are changes
  • Complete investigations and Investigative Reports as required, including but not limited to allegations of abuse and neglect, reportable incidents, notable occurrences, Part 625 events and situations, and non- reportable incidents.
  • Filing of incidents where required using the Incident Report and Management Application (“IRMA”); enter investigation reports and supporting documentation into the NYS Justice Center’s Web Submission of Investigation Reports (“WSIR”) application.
  • Update IRMA with required information during the course of the processing of the incident inclusive of contact information, uploading of the Electronic Investigative Record, and the closure of incidents in IRMA.
  • Assist with agency training and orientation by teaching designated curriculum topics to new and/or existing employees.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field required. A combination of alternate education and experience may deemed appropriate by supervisor.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities required.
  • OPWDD regulatory knowledge and investigatory experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
  • Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations (Amendable to Class E); deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
