Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Normal Work Location: KSPT Medical
Normal Working Hours: 1st Shift (7am - 3:30pm) / Monday – Friday / Full Time

Position Summary
Associate is responsible for coordinating and/or performing complex visual, geometric and dimensional inspections of product manufactured at their assigned location. Inspection methods include a visual examination using various magnification devices and measurement of various diameters, lengths, widths and angles using a wide variety of calibrated devices. Calibration duties may also be assigned. Associate will also coordinate and/or perform the tasks necessary to ship finished product to the Distribution Center or subsequent operations. This position supports a lean and a safe manufacturing environment while focusing on continuous improvement, quality and support of teamwork throughout KSPT.
Essential Job Functions
- Associate prioritizes, coordinates and/or inspects manufactured product using a variety of calibrated devices to verify conformance to KSPT dimensional and geometric specifications.
- Prioritizes, coordinates and/or inspects manufactured product for visually apparent defects such as chips, cracks, voids, circular land, wheel marks and other similar defects.
- Advises department manager, plant management and plant coaching staff on matters related to the inspection of product at their assigned location.
- May participate in scrap review activities to determine root causes and to develop, implement and verify effectiveness of corrective action.
- Following documented work instructions, monitors, controls and records the pH value of the water/detergent solution of cleaning equipment and maintains equipment as directed.
- Accurately completes the required documentation and makes the required entries into the various software packages using applicable software networked personal computers.
- Establishes and maintains an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork.
- Continually seeks to improve efficiency and accuracy through revising established procedures and the evaluation of new methods and equipment.
- Assists in the training of manufacturing and inspection associates in the identification of defects and the use of inspection equipment.
- May perform calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
- May, in the absence of Coach, provide coaching to other QA associates as necessary.
Marginal / Less Essential Job Functions
- Maintains an orderly, neat workplace.
- Maintains equipment to ensure dependability and accuracy.
- Frequently checks supplies and replenishes as required.
- Using the required equipment, ensures that manufactured product is clean, dry and free from oil and grinding debris prior to inspection. This may be accomplished using either automated or manually operated cleaning equipment.
- Associate operates and maintains the equipment used for cleaning of product before inspection.
- Following documented work instructions, coordinates and/or packages inspected product for shipment to the Distribution Center ensuring that product identification is accurate.

Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write and comprehend, and communicate in English
Other Qualifications Desired
Training & Experience
- Three years’ previous experience in manufacturing or two years of quality assurance and product inspection in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Significant experience using handheld measuring devices, including micrometers, rulers and calipers
- Knowledge of and experience using such devices as optical comparators, laser micrometers and tool analyzers
- Knowledge of and experience with personal computers operating the applicable software and its application
- Knowledge of decimal and metric system

License Required: N/A
Visual Acuity: Must be able to visually examine tools and accurately read production drawings, rulers, micrometers, calipers, computer screens, optical comparator screens and machine dials. Must be able to visually detect small chips, cracks, voids and similar defects in finished product under varying magnification with or without accommodation.
Hearing Ability: Ability to meet the minimum essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions: Well lit, climate controlled manufacturing environment with moderate-loud noise levels. Position subject to occasional light to medium lifting (up to 60lbs), carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching and bending. Constant use of upper extremities with frequent gripping motions and wrist deviations. Occasional reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required to retrieve and store packaging materials and finished product. Position may require long periods of sitting at a microscope looking at tools under various magnifications, or standing while cleaning and packaging finished product. Minimal skin exposure to detergents, oils and cutting/grinding fluids and minimal exposure to fumes, dusts, mists.

- Associate is required to know, understand, and comply with KSPT Quality Management System requirements and applicable work instructions.
- Associate is required to follow other job-related duties, subject to all Local, State, and federal laws and applicable regulations.
- The incumbent must successfully perform all requirements of the position training plan.
When overtime is scheduled, it is mandatory.
