As our Quality Engineer you will be responsible for delivering product quality, food safety, regulatory requirements, and productivity to meet our customer expectations and business needs. Your duties will include defining key consumer quality requirements, identifying the specifications for an ideal product, determining an appropriate level of variation, and monitoring quality assurance rates during new product development, commercialization, in-house manufacturing, and contract manufacturing. This position is focused on finding opportunities to implement preventive measures, so our food consistently delivers to company, consumer, and customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to our innovators during the new product development process.
  • In collaboration with our innovators, provide product specification and nutrition facts panel content to ensure consistent delivery of gold standards and manufacturing system capabilities.
  • Provide risk assessment analysis and manage issues with non-conforming products to ensure proper control, minimize losses, and prevent future occurrences.
  • Attend new product plant trials and first production runs to define and ensure compliance to key consumer quality requirements and food safety system execution.
  • Define and execute Virtual Product views between QA technicians and Supplier to ensure calibration of quality expectations.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data for monthly Product Quality Review.
  • Implement methods to inspect, test, and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products, and production equipment.
  • Conduct measurement system analysis, Gage Calibrations and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R).
  • Implement and execute Statistical Process Control programs for product line management
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, sanitation, and engineering to continuously reduce risk during new product development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial or Mechanical engineering
  • 2 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, technical services, or operations
  • In-depth knowledge of Food Safety principals, allergen control, and sanitation standards associated with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF)/Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements
  • Ability to use general lab equipment, such as titrators, moisture analyzers, micrometer, caliper, hardness and surface testers, and indicators
  • Statistical Process Control and application
  • Gage Calibration and Gage R&R
  • Effective computer skills using MS Office products such as Word, Excel, & Outlook and required technical software
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and sustain new programs and procedures
  • Ability to design, generate, and maintain reports, databases, and spreadsheets to analyze data

Preferred

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer
  • HACCP certified
  • Experience in agriculture and organics

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000/year
