Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity on our Rail Transportation team. This role is based out of our Inver Grove Heights, MN office and will work a hybrid schedule. We are seeking a Rail Transportation Specialist to interface with our country operations, grain merchandising, and railroad partners for collaborative management of our shuttle rail shipments.
Responsibilities
- Manage rail shipments and logistics through collaboration with country operations, grain merchandisers and railroads; functioning as the primary conduit of real-time information
- Coordinate first mile and last mile rail operations with internal and external customers
- Understand elevator schedules and loading needs to optimize loading and delivery.
- Support the processes of rail billing, diversions, and shipment rating
- Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple rail service providers and internal and external customers
- Effectively and timely communicate changes and resulting impacts to CHS and our customers.
- Optimize cycle times and utilization; reduce demurrage
- Create KPI structure for rail shipments; advance the use of PowerBi reporting and data driven decisions
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of Ag/Energy business, merchandising and bulk product handling
- Experience in rail transportation
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite (excel, outlook, TEAMS)
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification

CHS offers a competitive total compensation package.
Compensation: This includes base wage and may consist of other earnings depending upon position within CHS, consisting of bonuses, incentives, commissions, merit pay. This position may be an opportunity for promotion.
