Summary of Duties

The ideal candidate must be able to review, input and process police related documents into the Records Management System. The ideal candidate will be able to Assist City departments and government agencies in obtaining police related information. Assist general public with requests for copies of reports and local criminal history checks. We are looking for a candidate that is able to perform receptionist duties by answering telephones, greeting visitors, directing visitors to the appropriate department, and provide information as requested. The perfect candidate will have experience with advanced knowledge of the Internet, and office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. A strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical for success in this role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness and dependability.

Review, input and process police-related documents into the Records Management System.
- Prepare monthly statistical reports, case packets to be filed with the District Attorney’s Office, information in response to Open Records Requests and comply with Court Orders.
- Assist City departments and government agencies in obtaining police-related information. Assist the general public with requests for copies of reports and local criminal history checks.
- Perform receptionist duties by answering telephones, greeting visitors, directing visitors to the appropriate department, and provide information as requested.
- Maintain the security of all records in an organized and accurate filing system. .
- Handle cash fund and prepare deposit slips.
- Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.

Minimum Qualifications
What We Need From You as a Records Clerk
As a Records Clerk, you will be responsible for the direct support of the Sugar Land Police Department by providing administrative support to all four divisions. The position is multi-task oriented, requires exceptional and proficient records management skills, and archive of municipal records. The position necessitates critical thinking skills with highly developed technical skills in processing of municipal government needs. The position requires initiative and the ability to work with little supervision.

- One year of experience in records and file room management.
- Experience in a law enforcement environment is preferred.
