Position Purpose:
The Inspector/Certified Repairman will have final authority for the release, as airworthy, of the units the repair station is rated to repair and maintain. He/She will be appropriately certificated under 14 CFR Part 65. This role will also be performing repairs as needed and is a working position.
Major/Key Accountabilities
The Chief Inspector’s/Certified Repariman key roles include, but are not limited to:
Assuming his/her delegated duties in accordance with the pertinent Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR), manufacturer’s technical data and the Repair Station Manual
- Planning and layout of details for approved inspection standards, methods and procedures in compliance with all pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer specifications and customer requirements
- Providing for the proper training of repair station personnel and maintaining training records in accordance with approved training program
- Making certain that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and that the proper inspection records, reports and forms used by the repair station are properly executed prior to the release of products for return to service
- Maintaining a current file of the pertinent Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR), Airworthiness Directives, Advisory Circulars and all other applicable published materials
- Assuring that all controlled copies of the Combination Manual and other required documents, issued to the repair station personnel, are maintained in a current status
- Assuring that the personnel do quality work and adhere to the internal audit procedure and program
- Maintaining the premises of the repair station in a clean and orderly manner
- Conducting and/or overseeing the Preliminary, Hidden Damage, In-Progress and Final Inspections of articles processed by the repair station and assure proper recording of the results as detailed in the Repair Station Manual
- Determining the final acceptance of all incoming materials; including new parts, supplies and the airworthiness of any item on which work has been performed by an outside contractor
- Assuring that rejected and unserviceable parts are prominently identified, tagged and properly disposed of in order to prevent their use
- Submitting reports of defects or un-airworthy condition the “Service Difficulty Reports” in accordance with 14 CFR Part 145.221
- Maintain files of completed work orders and inspection forms in such a manner that the file pertaining to a specific item repaired can be readily located for review
- Posting any applicable Airworthiness Directives on the repair area bulletin board
- Assure calibration of tools and devices and specified records of calibrations are kept current
- Maintaining the shelf life program in accordance with QCM Section 1.30
- Assisting in other required backup positions identified within the Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual

Health and safety
The Chief Inspector/Certified Repairman is responsible for:
- Actively promoting a healthy and safe work environment
- Participating in the development, improvement and implementation of workplace safety management systems

Qualifications:
Trade based qualifications preferably in aviation supervisory skills
A&P license preferred
Experience:
- Practical experience in a sheet metal workshop
- Supervisory experience
- General computing skills – Excel, Word, Outlook
- Production flow management
Skills and Knowledge:
- A general knowledge and comprehension of all applicable rules / regulations, FAA Airworthiness Directives, and the manufacturers' Maintenance Service Instructions of the articles worked on.
