The Morrison Lab located in the Children’s Research Institute (CRI) at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks applications for an innovative, collaborative, and driven Research Specialist. We are particularly looking for individuals with demonstrated expertise in molecular, cellular biology and other skills provided below. As a senior member of the Morrison laboratory, the successful research specialist will lead a research project, help to write grant reports, and mentor junior lab members.
The UT-Southwestern Medical Center has a long and distinguished history of excellence in disease-related basic science research. The CRI is recruiting outstanding individuals dedicated to solving fundamental problems in biology and disease. The CRI is a dynamic and highly collaborative scientific environment. Major areas of focus within the CRI will include stem cell biology, cancer biology, and metabolism.

What you’ll do:
  • Work solving fundamental problems in biology and disease
  • Areas of focus will include stem cell biology, cancer biology, and metabolism. .
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Morrison research team and also independently performing experiments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
  • Experience in the area of stem cell or cancer biology.
  • Ph.D or equivalent degree
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in the area of stem cell or cancer biology.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • History of first-author publications in high quality scientific journals
  • History of significant participation in complex projects
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances or other hazardous materials.

Compensation Range
$58,600.00 (minimum) - $73,260.00 (midpoint) - $95,200.00 (maximum)

HHMI’s salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
