s seeking a Retail Manager 3 to support the Universities Dining segment at Northwest Missouri State University.


Established in 1905, Northwest Missouri State University is a state-assisted, comprehensive four-year regional university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). It offers a broad range of undergraduate and selected graduate programs on its Maryville campus as well as its Northwest-Kansas City location at the Northland Innovation Center and through Northwest Online.


The Retail Manager will have oversight of multiple food retail locations and drive strategic growth with both internal brands and National Retail Brands. We are looking for an innovative leader who is comfortable with technology advances and learning new retail programs. They will be responsible for all innovative menu concepts, platforms and partnerships, will oversee the culinary team which includes over100 full time employees, student team members and collaborative work on campus.


The position reports to the General Manager and has daily client interaction.


The successful candidate will:

  • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting;
  • ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented;
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations;
  • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance; and/or
  • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems.

Position Summary:
Responsible for food quality & customer service in an operation that may have branded concepts or other retail offerings. Directs the work of hourly and supervisory food service workers, as well as other managers.
Key Duties
  • Ensures there is a zero harm mindset for ourselves, our customers, our food & employees.
  • Directs daily operations of food quality & customer service in a retail food operation that may include branded concepts ensuring that employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources.
  • Manages cash handling protocols & control procedures according to Sodexo policies.
  • Maintains client satisfaction for food quality & customer service.
  • Accountable for the execution of service quality by maintaining the highest level of delivery.
  • Supervises day-to-day work activities of food service workers, supervisors & managers.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year of work experience in concessions, retail sales, or store operations
