POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Wellness, the Charge Nurse oversees the total resident care provided on each assigned shift. Demonstrates extensive inter-team communication, displays leadership and direction, while recognizing individual worth of all team members.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Supervises and assigns all care given by nursing employees on each assigned shift. Delegates responsibilities to Med Tech and NAC. Assign work appropriately as needed.
- Coordinates staff call offs and staffing need with staffing coordinator and triage staff assignment as necessary.
- Monitors Quality Assurance daily when making resident rounds. Monitors such items as resident record charting, meal charting, and other records checking for completeness and accuracy.
- Notifies the DCW/Care Coordinator/Administrator of any change in condition of residents or other situations on the floor.
- Informs resident's family and physician of all changes in the resident's condition. Makes calls to physicians for changes in resident's needs.
- Performs timely documentation (accurately and appropriately) in resident record and on internal forms as needed.
- Makes rounds with providers as visits occur and follows through on new orders.
- Responsible for narcotic key and count of narcotics.
- Coordinate with Nurse Delegator and DCW if medication error occurs for timely intervention and staff education as needed.
- Monitors med cart audit, med room and treatment room for outdated medications and ointments. Coordinate needed change with Nurse Delegator and DCW.
- Assures that necessary paperwork and other duties required for admission or discharge of residents has been completed. Initiates care plan for new admits.
- Supervises and assists with the care of critical residents.
- Reviews, revises and submits corrected physician orders for monthly printing as assigned. Reorders medications for residents as needed.
- Works with central supply and NAC to assure that all supplies needed for the med room and treatment room have been ordered. Stores supplies in proper place when order arrives.
- Implements and monitors for infection control including assignments of clean and dirty utility rooms.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions.
- Work as part of a professional medical team to provide the highest degree of quality resident care. Able to relate tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, consultants and the general public.
- Must comply with current personnel policies and procedures including knowledge of abuse and neglect reporting procedures and ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident information.
- Must comply with current Tuberculosis Test requirements.
- Attends assigned nursing meetings, in-service education classes, and other meetings required to stay informed of current nursing practice.
Required Qualifications:
- Current/Active unrestricted LPN or RN license with the State of Washington at the time of application.
- CPR and First Aid certified at the time of hire or within 30 days of hire (class provided).
- Washington State Food Handler's permit at the time of hire and maintained while employed.
- Ability to communicate verbally & in writing, in English.
- Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with geriatric population
