The RN Program Manager works closely with Medical Directors and the Pathology Laboratory, dedicates time on continuous improvement of the Patient Blood Management (PBM) Program and the administration of PBM education throughout the system. Collaborates with local Patient Blood Management Councils to ensure compliance with IU transfusion guidelines and national regulatory requirements. Educates staff in blood component transfusion. Participates in the development of blood component administration policies and procedures, creates training materials for clinical staff, and performs ongoing monitoring to assess competency and compliance. Conducts investigations of errors, deviations, and near-miss events that involve blood component administration that occur outside of the laboratory. Collaborates with clinical and laboratory staff to develop and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
- Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) Degree is required.
- Master's Degree in clinical healthcare or business is preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Certified Public Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification is preferred.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Experience in report writing and graphical display is preferred.
