Location: Delton Family Medical Center
Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Weekend rotation: No weekends
Holiday rotation: Paid Holidays
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Patient Care Staff Director, the Clinic Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the organization, coordination and management of the Outreach Clinic as well as provide direct patient care in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and protocols and governmental regulations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Patient care and assist Practitioners.
- Chart preparation and documentation using the Electronic Medical Record.
- Schedule appointments, address and manage messages, organize and prioritize patient calls based on urgency.
- Maintain competencies and have them completed by the assigned completion date.
- Responsible for reviewing and following policies and procedures.
- Stock rooms with supplies, cleans rooms, cleans equipment and instruments, and completes any required documentation.
- Ensure instruments are clean and in good working order.
- Prepare/complete paperwork (i.e. fee slips, lab orders, pathology, surgical scheduling requests, Work Comp, FMLA, etc.)Perform duties assigned by PCS Director or Clinic Administrator.
- Attend monthly Patient Care Staff meetings, huddles and staff meetings, Pod Lead/Supervisor meeting, CQI, Supervisor meetings, and any other meetings assigned by Clinic Administrator or Patient Care Staff Director.
- Assist with triaging patients (phone calls, messages, etc) within scope of practice.
- Work with clinic staff to help with any questions or concerns regarding patient care.
- Receive and record verbal orders from providers within RN scope of practice.
- Review policies and procedures on HOWIE when they are assigned.
- Assist with patient education upon provider request.
- Conducts all supervisory responsibilities according to personnel Policies and Procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
- Manages employee performance issues, recognizes the need for counseling and disciplinary action and carries out the disciplinary action in an appropriate manner with the Patient Care Staff Director.
- Conducts employee performance appraisals annually and in an objective manner and assures competencies are completed.
- Supervises students during externships/internships.
- Provide coverage for staff when needed including Patient Care Staff, Lab, Registration/Reception.
- Assures staff have annually updated health histories.
- Periodically reviews and updates job descriptions with Patient Care Staff Director.
- Works with Patient Care Staff Director to conduct interviews and select quality applicants for vacancies, checks references prior to job offer.
- Communicates effectively with patients, fellow employees, supervisors and other personnel.
- Shares information with staff as appropriate and in a timely manner including department meeting minutes.
- Appropriately communicates activities which impact other departments or systems.
- Responds cooperatively to Directors and staff members in other departments, ensures teamwork and exchange of team building ideas.
- Creates and maintains employee schedules. Tracks timesheets and coordinates vacation and/or leaves with employees.
- Leads clinic staff meetings at least quarterly.
- Work with the Patient Care Staff Director to develop, implement and update policies and procedures.
- Participates in any assigned committees.
- Promotes communication with Practitioners, Patient Care Staff Director, clinic staff, and Administration to address processes and concerns.
- Participates in Journey to Excellence activities.
- Oversees inventory and orders supplies.
- With the assistance of the Patient Care Staff Director and Clinic Administrator, maintains the budget and submits Capital Budget Purchase requests.
- Verifies accuracy of invoices before they are submitted to accounting for payment.
- Train New Hires.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- ADN- Associated Degree in Nursing
Required Licenses
- Registered Nurse
- State of WI RN
Minimum Work Experience
- Experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Required Skills
- CPR Certified or eligible to recertify.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to work independently with minimal physician supervision.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Ability to perform basic diagnostic tests.
- Administer immunizations and injections.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Comply with State, Federal, TJC, CLIA and Rural Health regulations.
