Safety Communication Specialist
As the Safety Communication Specialist, you will assist the Safety Culture Manager in cultivating a positive safety culture in all levels of the organization through communication, relationship building, creativity, and participation. The Safety Communication Specialist will be responsible for supporting implementation of the WTP Worker Safety & Health Program. Specific responsibilities include proactively assisting and developing safety campaigns to ensure they are timely and effective. The Safety Communication Specialist will develop, oversee, and deliver communications at all levels of the organization to maintain a consistent message, while allowing for team input and improvements to the site safety culture. Active participation in safety culture discussions supports the efforts of the safety culture improvement team to build positive relationships across safety teams and positively impact overall safety culture program planning, operations, and communication.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

Ensure effective communication of safety topics.

Assist with planning safety campaigns.

Creating safety posters with innovative ideas.
-
Active participation on safety committees.

Manage Safety Recognition Process & Awards.

Support the Safety Culture Manager.

Build relationships across the organization.

Manage schedules of safety campaigns and reports.

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education: BA or BS in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Communication, Education, Public Relations, English.

Minimum of 7 years (3 years with Masters degree) of related experience

Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment is desired

Prior work experience in a prior Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) VPP Star Site highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $87,988.37 - $136,835.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
