WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


TNC’s North America Science Team provides science support to multiple programs and strategies across the North America Region, including the Agriculture Program collaborates with farmers, ranchers, government agencies, agribusinesses, food supply chain businesses, and others to safeguard lands and waters, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect and restore natural communities, and build resiliency. The program aims to achieve widespread adoption of adaptive soil health and nutrient management systems in croplands and improved grazing lands management across the U.S.


The Science Program Specialist assists with science program planning, project management, and communications, for both external partnerships with research collaborators and internal partnerships with agriculture practitioners and scientists across the North America Region. They may also develop and lead specific science projects that support the NA Ag science team.


The Science Program Specialist also works with NA Ag science leads to develop and conduct strategy and decision-relevant research, including synthetic data or literature reviews and other quantitative and qualitative analyses. They support research and proposal design and development as applicable. The successful candidate will work effectively independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly matrixed organization; and be adaptable to shifting needs and priorities. They support the development and maintenance of collaborative partnerships with other scientists and institutions to achieve NA Ag’s strategic outcomes. The Science Program Specialist also engages internally with other TNC Agriculture scientists and conservation practitioners across a highly matrixed organizational setting to explore and synthesize research efforts, needs, and opportunities and share research updates and findings. They will communicate about various agricultural systems, research areas, and methods (including, but not limited to, biogeochemical modeling, quantitative and qualitative data and statistical analysis

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU


We’re looking for a new science team member who is highly collaborative, skilled in developing and nurturing relationships with partners, and adept at managing multiple research projects. This person will be a compelling communicator, organized, and skilled at synthesizing data and information for different audiences. We seek someone who is deeply curious – about people, agricultural systems, regenerative solutions, science, conservation – and who takes the initiative to connect with others and explore new areas.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING


  • Master's Degree in conservation science or sustainable agriculture-related field and at least 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relationship building experience to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., academic researchers, government officials, internal scientists and conservation practitioners.
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Experience synthesizing, analyzing, interpreting and communicating scientific data and information (qualitative or quantitative).
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Flexibility and interest to understand and move between different subject matter areas across the North America Ag science portfolio
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing reports of findings.
