The B cell Hub group is at the heart of the Biologics Engineering department. We discover antibodies in support of all therapeutic areas. What you'll do:

The Department of Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist to enhance our monoclonal antibody discovery platform using flow cytometry. The successful candidate will operate the SH800 cell sorter and perform phenotyping studies and FACS of immune B cells for a variety of monoclonal antibody discovery programs. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in Immunology that is excited by translational research. The candidate will operate in collaboration with a diverse group of scientists to actively drive technological innovations. The selected individual will be a well-organized and highly productive scientist with expertise in flow cytometry and FACS that can design the flow cytometric experiments, operate the cell sorter efficiently, as well as interpret, analyze, and present the data. The selected candidate will participate in flow cytometry projects through assay development, validation, and execution in a timely manner. The main duties will include the separation of immune cells, the design and testing of multiparametric flow cytometry staining reagent panels, performing immunological assays, and maintaining the equipment.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Immunology or other related fields with 5-7 years of relevant experience in the industry (preferred) or academia or Master’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience in the industry (preferred) or academia
  • The successful candidate should be an expert in flow cytometry and FACS
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience in the isolation of human peripheral mononuclear cells, magnetic separation of immune cells, flow cytometry, and serological and immunological assays
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience in monoclonal antibody and protein conjugation, fluorescent dye chemistry, immune cells isolation and separation, multiparametric flow cytometry, cell culture, immunophenotyping, and common immunological assays.
  • The individual should have demonstrated experience in optimizing/troubleshooting new protocols with a problem-solving mindset and be adept at learning new platforms and skills.
  • The individual should also be self-motivated, embrace new technologies, and have demonstrated an ability to work within teams.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Molecular biology skills (PCR, recombinant cloning, etc.,) would also be highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills are highly desirable.
