Position Objective: Properly receive incoming milk loads, perform necessary screening tests, transfer milk to silos. Wash and sanitize milk trucks, holding tanks and receiving lines. Properly maintain paperwork, wash tags, continuous charts and other documentation for Intake Dept. Verify training and compliance with all company work rules/regulatory agencies by other departmental employees. Work with the drivers bringing in milk to ensure they follow Melrose Intake policies and are properly cleaning the equipment under their control.

Hours: 4:45am - 5:15pm
Pay Rate: $24.20
Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Primary Function:
- Adhere to regulatory agencies and internal audit policies, practices and procedures.
- Receiving of incoming milk loads, including scaling trucks in and out, screening loads for antibiotics, checking temperature and Titratable Acidity, unloading trucks to the proper holding tanks, and maintaining proper documentation for these tasks.
- Report all load non-conformances to supervisor, shift lead, or Quality manager immediately.
- Preparing loads for shipment, including both Direct Shipments and load outs, and maintaining proper documentation, walking the line prior to loadout and receiving.
- Responsible for verification of silo connections prior to filling.
- Maintain legible and accurate records, documentation, reports, etc.
- CIP cleaning of trucks, holding tanks and receiving lines, testing for chemical strengths and maintaining documentation of these tasks.
- Initiate setup, shutdown, teardown, CIP/COP and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Daily review of all Intake records from previous days operations. Take corrective actions as needed.
- Perform Pre-Operation Inspections and documenting for Intake Department before starting milk receiving operations. Check every truck to ensure truck is clean, nothing left in it, prior to loading.
- Assist in training new and existing Intake employees in all work instructions and OPLs. Ensure compliance with these and all other company rules by all Intake personnel.
- Completion of all required Master Sanitation Schedule cleaning requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Shift Lead or Production Manager.
- Secondary Function:
- Must ensure department work and recordkeeping is performed accurately and efficiently.
- Committed to adhering to all GMP, Sanitation, LQMS and HACCP procedures and requirements.
- Must be willing to assist co-workers as necessary to achieve and maintain department efficiency expectations.
- Follow all sanitation and quality SOP’s to ensure all equipment is clean and ready for production.
- Keep a safe and organized work environment.
- Must know all job functions for all Intake positions.
- Safety Responsibility:
- Use proper lifting techniques when performing all job functions.
- Follow all plant safety rules and procedures.
- Perform all duties safely and use discretion to prevent injuries.
- Report all injuries and property loss incidents, including spills.
- Must complete all annual safety training courses.
- Must wear all Land O’Lakes-required safety PPEs.
- Must be trained in and follow all proper Confined Space Entry and Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures, including chocking the wheels.
- Physical Responsibility:
- Must be able to routinely lift and place CIP tree for truck CIP and receiving, approx. 55 pounds.
- Must be able to climb and descend plant designed platforms to access trucks.
- Must be able to work in elevated work areas (tops of trucks) as part of normal duties.
- Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, pull, stoop and lift when performing job.
- Must be able to work in a hot and/or cold environment.
- Must be able to work with hearing protection in place in areas that it is required.
- Interpersonal / Organizational Responsibilities:
- Must be able to follow both written and verbal methods and instructions, paying close attention to details.
- Must be able to follow specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the tasks.
- Must be committed to inter-department communication with management and co-workers to maintain efficiency and safety.
- Must promote and work well within a team-based environment.
- Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Prior high speed, high tech manufacturing experience.
- Must possess or obtain a Weigher's and Samplers’ License before training is completed.
- Must train and pass in plant antibiotic testing procedures to satisfy Appendix N regulations to become and approved Screener for antibiotics in milk before training is completed.
- Must obtain State certification for Charm SL Beta-Lactam as an Industry Supervisor and Certified Lab Analyst when state training and testing is available.
- Must have the ability to operate computer applications that apply to operations
- Must be able to do mathematical calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively to ensure product flow to next work station
- Ability to perform problem solving skills, apply creative thinking, use resources, and make effective decisions.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize.
- Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position outlined in the Physical Demands Analysis (PDA.)
- Ability to learn new skills and adapt to change as the organization continues to improve processes.
- Ability to read and write effectively in English.
