Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is a varied position that requires a high degree of judgment and an independent, technically -able thinker who understands accounting reporting standards (GAAP), corporate reporting, personal computer spreadsheets and other software packages, and internal control administration. This is the most senior skill level without supervisory responsibility. Position may provide functional advice or training to less-experienced financial analyst positions.
The ideal candidate will possess: (1) accounting and financial functional experience in a manufacturing environment (2) intermediate-to-advanced level understanding of accounting & processes, cost accounting, forecasting and budgeting (3) entrepreneurial in nature; helping support and explain information with imperfect information and, (4) displays a high level of initiative; invites, challenges, naturally inclusive and collaborative and explores new ideas while understanding and communicating risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the fiscal closing process including closing journal entries and sub ledgers timely and accurately and in accordance to GAAP. This includes analysis, interpretation and reporting of budget and actual variance and financial results.
- Review aspects of technical accounting, including timely identification of and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, internal controls and documenting issues appropriately (Sarbanes-Oxley and GAAP).
- Manage sales tax return process for assigned states, cities and counties and be able to present findings and analysis to management. Ensure required sales tax returns are filed accurately and timely. Continuously evaluate system flows, emphasizing continuous improvement in business processes.
- Perform general accounting duties including, but not limited to reconciliations, throughput reviews, standard cost rolls, accruals for payroll, benefits and marketing. Take ownership of assigned accounts and identify issues and report to management any concerns that could affect the integrity of the financial statements. Supervise and direct accounting & finance staff including but not limited to performance review and evaluations, mentoring and development.
- Manage and/or assist with special projects on group wide initiatives, process simplification and Company specific projects.
- Work with business and functional leaders to provide technical financial resources for new product launches, capital expenditures reviews and any other financial assistance they require. Take ownership of assigned value stream and keep management informed of activity.
- Decision Analysis and Support: Create and support a data-driven decision-making culture within the business, including, but not limited to operational improvements and evaluation, cost/benefit modeling, strategic and risk analysis.

Education/Aptitude:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting
- Requires 3+ years of experience, preferably within manufacturing & industrial products industry
- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Access, PowerPoint, and Word
