Role Snapshot
The Senior Cobol Developer is under general supervision and makes modifications to complex applications and will create detailed specifications. This person will lead and assist in design, creation, deployment, and maintenance of programs. They will also demonstrate effective communication skills to interpret needs of clients and work very closely with other Information Systems teams. In our mainframe environment we rely on our senior developers to have recent experience and a strong understanding of CICS. Besides COBOL, we have a robust DB2 environment as well.

- Enjoy helping to translate technical details into business terminology to bridge gaps between clients and IT.
- Can provide daytime and nighttime production support for applications to provide positive customer service.
- Work with Quality Assurance teams in testing of applications.
- Like to peer review code and technical documents for other team members to ensure best quality.
- Are skilled in source control software to maintain integrity of production software, including prior versions of code.
- Can follow defined Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Change Control processes.
- Can organize and send out communication about development activities with other teams, e.g. database management, infrastructure configuration, quality assurance testing.
- Enjoy taking a leadership role on moderately complex projects independently or as part of a larger project team.
- Handle multiple competing initiatives and escalate issues effectively.

Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent post high school and/or related work experience
- 1 or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years of related work experience
- 5 or more years of experience in Information Systems performing development work
- Mainframe coding experience (TSO, JCL, COBOL, CICS, MVS, File-Aid etc.)
- Experience with VSAM files
- Experience with RDBMS (DB2, SQL)
- Experience using multiple operating systems (Windows, Redhat, zOs)
- Knowledge of Control-M
- Experience with Agile Methodology
Your team:
Consists of over 15 Developers working multiple projects focused on our Military Veteran Health (MVH) business lines pertaining specifically to DoD TRICARE health Insurance.
Salary Range
- $95,000 ~ 105,000
- The base pay offered for this position may vary based on your experience, knowledge, skills, and may fall outside the posted range.

Remote Worker Requirements
For remote position, employee is required to meet remote worker requirements, including a designated work station, a wired (Ethernet) connection to the network, and a minimum of 10Mbps downstream connection with at least 1Mbps upstream (can be checked at https://speedtest.net)
