WATER PRACTICE
Michael Baker International’s Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.
DESCRIPTION
Our Electrical Engineer will Make a Difference by supporting our many federal, public and private sector clients throughout southern California with their next challenging projects. The successful candidate will join a well-established and reputable team of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers, designers, and drafters that is well funded and stable. Duties will include planning, design, and project delivery for a variety of projects related to electrical design for federal infrastructures and facilities, campuses, roadways, buildings and water/wastewater systems. You will be involved with a variety of projects related to electrical systems planning and design, working as part of a project team lead by a Project Manager and comprised of other Project Engineers and Designers. Typical daily duties may include:
- Perform complex analysis, calculations, design, evaluation, and inspection for a specific area of technical expertise which includes Electrical Power Distribution, Lighting, SCADA, Emergency and Renewable Power, Telemetry and additional special systems and products to support project objectives and meet the project’s design criteria.
- Preparing technical memoranda, construction drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Providing engineering support during the construction phase of projects.
- Providing technical support for marketing and proposal efforts and during the procurement of key projects.
- Perform on-site condition assessment of existing facilities and provide recommendation to the client.
- Assisting project managers with project coordination and development of planning concepts and design strategies.
- Collaborate with other engineering personnel in the creation of electrical system design for projects related to facilities, campuses, roadways and federal infrastructures.
- Communicating directly with colleagues, clients, utility providers, vendors and other project stakeholders to effectively coordinate and resolve project issues.
- Perform quality control procedures such as reviewing project deliverables prior to client submissions also performing an internal technical review of other engineer’s designs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- A minimum of 10+ years of professional experience
- Professional Engineer registration in California (P.E.)
- Able to work independently and provide electrical engineering design of water/wastewater facilities infrastructure projects, building electrical design, etc.
- Experience with the National Electrical Code
- Working knowledge of government and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects
- Have excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Lightning protection system design experience
- Medium voltage design experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Availability to occasionally travel to project locations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and is desirable.
- Proficiency in SKM and/or ETAP power system modeling is desirable.
- LEED Certification (LEED GA, LEED AP, etc.) is desirable.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $116,000-$191,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
