Seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician with asbestos inspector and PM/AMT certification to perform environmental project oversight, air monitoring, building surveys for asbestos-containing materials, lead paint, mold and other hazards to provide technical oversight and assessments.
Will provide training for entry-level candidates!
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide field services and collaborates with scientists and forensic experts on complex and detailed environmental investigation projects; to provide consulting services to clients regarding environmental health and safety (EH&S) issues in accordance with assignments from clients or assigned legal counsel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts and leads microbial, lead, asbestos, and industrial hygiene inspections and sampling.
- Performs indoor air quality investigations.
- Develops protocol and abatement specifications and acts as a consultant on other industrial hygiene services projects.
- Processes and dispose of samples and evidence in accordance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and industry standards.
- Prepares inspection reports based on scientific findings and scope of work per project.
- Prepares chain of custody forms for analytical testing, recording survey data in approved forms.
- Performs more complex collection of field and/or laboratory data and more complex laboratory testing
- Documents and maintains billable hours on a time and expense basis, as applicable, for services rendered for external clients.
- Gathers detailed notes, takes photographs, and documents temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content measurements.
- Promotes and markets utilization of the company’s investigative services by the insurance industry within assigned territory.
- Provides oversight and mentors less experienced Environmental Field Technicians.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.
- Ensures industry acceptable methodology for performance of services is followed.
- Observes contractor work on projects and interacts with clients and contractor or subcontractor representatives accordingly.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
- High school diploma required.
- Preferred Associates or Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Construction or Building Safety or related science from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred current Training Certificates or Licensure for the following:
- EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector
- EPA Abatement Supervisor
- Texas Air Monitoring Technician (including NIOSH 582 training)
- Texas Individual Asbestos Consultant (or Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Project Manager, Air Monitoring Technician)
- Texas Mold Assessment Technician or Consultant
- EPA Lead Inspector or Risk Manager
- Related licenses in other states are considered a plus.
- Current HAZWOPER training is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving history.
Experience
Four (4) years of experience in at least one of the following disciplines: asbestos and lead-based paint surveys and project monitoring, microbial and IAQ investigations, industrial hygiene surveys, soil/water sampling or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education required.

- Knowledge and understanding of current industry standards, regulations, techniques, and equipment for performance of EHS services.
