POSITION:
Senior Major Gifts Officer
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Major Gifts
TIME: Full-time, 80% Remote / 20% on-site or 1 day a week (North Denver)
SCHEDULE: Remote: Mon, Wed, Thur, Friday, In-Office Tuesdays
(The team also does Flex Fridays after 6 months)

PAY RANGE:
$87,314.82 - $98,273.60

THE OBJECTIVE:
While supporting the vision, mission, goals, and values of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, generate financial support for PPRM’s programs with funds secured from individuals and provide appropriate stewardship to PPRM’s donor constituency.

SUCCESS:
You will know you are successful when the donor relationships you develop and maintain through connection, education, cultivation, and stewardship efforts lead to gifts of $25,000 and above to help sustain PPRM’s mission and future.

SNAPSHOT:
You will spend most of your days behind a computer from the comfort of your own home 4 out of 5 days a week. Your days will be spent talking to donors and collaborating with your development teammates to find opportunities to increase funding to expand access to reproductive healthcare. This role directly impacts our patient's access to services.
Although rare you may (think a few times a year):
  • attend events before/after business hours and/or evenings and weekends.
  • travel throughout our affiliate region.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You enjoy talking to people, and getting to know them!
  • You are a natural storyteller and are looking for a way to make an impact during a critical time in history.
  • You have at least 4 years of experience in managing relationships while soliciting large gifts.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and consistently practice ethical communication.
  • You are tech savvy (on a scale of 1-5 at least a 3). It is a plus if you have used donor databases in the past,
  • and you may be bilingual in Spanish and/or bicultural.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage Donor Portfolio: You are responsible for managing a portfolio of donors, strategically spending your time focused on renewals and new gifts from donors with the potential to give a major gift. You engage in direct solicitation work as well as behind-the-scenes research and preparation that enables effective fundraising. Included in your responsibilities, you will:
  • Manage an active portfolio of 40 – 50 prospective major donors (capacity for $25,000 and more annually) spending 60% of time on moving these prospects toward a major gift including:
  • Developing and implementing a well-defined donor cultivation and solicitation strategy for restricted and annual gifts. Also, look for opportunities to solicit support for C4 and planned gifts as appropriate.
  • Orchestrate and/or participate in face-to-face solicitations with current and potential major donors by scheduling visits with CEO, senior Development and program staff, and/or key volunteers.
  • Steward a portfolio of 10 – 20 major donors (10% of your time).
  • Qualify potential prospective donors through an established qualification system (20% of your time)
  • Work with prospect research staff to broaden base of potential supporters and coordinate with development staff in the cultivation, identification and upgrade of donors.

Contribute to the Team:
You’re an active member and contributor to the Development team, bringing your skills and capacity to collective efforts where you can have impact. Your willingness to collaborate makes you an essential member of the team’s success. You will:
  • Act as a donor cultivation and solicitation strategy partner with other fundraising staff.
  • Support the Board of Trustees with regards to their development work.
  • Work as a Development team member to meet fiscal year fundraising goals, create and adhere to the strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Provide leadership for the Major Gifts Team by overseeing special projects or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Implement and oversee a sophisticated planned giving program including targeted mailings, following up on planned giving questions from donors, reviewing documents, create reports, and provide the major gifts team with leadership around complexities of planned gifts.
  • Support the team environment with ideas and skills as required by team direction including but not limited to editing/proofing and writing of other written materials as appropriate.
  • Support agency-wide objectives through, but not limited to attending PPRM, PPRMAF, and external events, and by participating in task forces and committees.
  • Because Development is a relationship-based field, staff will be in office together one day a week.

Abortion Care:
We all work in abortion care, whether it is referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc. In this role, you will generate financial support for PPRM’s programs in support all the work we do including Abortion Care.

COVID-19 Vaccine & Booster:
PPRM requires that all employees are fully vaccinated and boosted as a condition of employment. An employee is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or one dose of a single- dose vaccination (Johnson and Johnson/Janssen). The COVID-19 vaccine booster shot is required by the first day of employment, or five months after receiving the final dose of the original vaccine series, whichever is later. Proof must be uploaded upon starting. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) on your first day of orientation.

Flu Protocol:
All employees working directly with patients or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient contact or while in the health center from October 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season). The flu shot will be available to health center employees in the health center in addition to being able to seek the flu vaccine externally through the medical plan or reimbursement.
