Position Title: Sr Payroll Administrator
Department / Section: Human Resources/Corporate Affairs
Reports To: Manager of Human Resources

Location: Atlanta, GA (*On-Site) *Incumbent must work in office in Atlanta four (4) days per week and may work remotely one (1) day per week with manager approval.

Summary:

Performs a variety of complex and specialized payroll duties related to the processing of MEAG Powers’ payroll and the maintenance of the payroll system; reviews and reconciles a variety of payroll reports including payroll taxes, benefits reports, quarterly taxes, ACA reporting, and retirement programs; ensures all local, state, and federal rules and regulations are followed; trains new managers and employees on payroll processes, procedures, and reports; assists with a variety of special projects; evaluates payroll processes and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement; interacts with employees regarding questions and concerns regarding payroll issues; maintains up-to-date knowledge of a variety of payroll related requirements; performs related work as assigned.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Maintains the payroll system and employee pay records;
  • Files required reporting documents in an accurate and timely manner including but not limited to quarterly reports, and annual reporting of ACA and W2’s.
  • Audits and reconciles payroll deductions and earnings registers for reasonableness.
  • Prepares and processes regular semi-monthly payroll using ADP and completes required forms and paperwork associated with payroll for the internal finance and accounting department and vendors as needed.
  • Prepares and processes monthly retiree payroll using ADP and completes required forms and paperwork associated with payroll for the internal finance and accounting department and vendors as needed.
  • Prepares and processes weekly expense reimbursement payroll using ADP.
  • Works within ADP eTime to import data into ADP for payroll and reporting purposes.
  • Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employment verifications.
  • Prepare month end reporting needs for the finance and accounting department for the HR Manager to review and approve.
  • Reconciles all payroll-related accounts and activities
  • Maintains accurate and confidential employee payroll records within ADP to include new hires, retirees and terminations.
  • Maintains and pay related records and interprets pay related questions about leave of absence, disability, vacation, and holidays.
  • Assists in wage and benefit surveys, preparing data and responses as requested.
  • Answers outside inquiries such as employment verifications.
  • Supports the HR team during the open enrollment process, employee activities/events and other events and activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Generally requires a bachelor’s degree business administration or related field with at least 5 years of demonstrated payroll related experience.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of principles and practices of payroll processing, administration, and records maintenance; budgeting and monitoring; classification and compensation
  • Will learn and apply Company policies and procedures
  • Requires advanced knowledge of ADP and payroll processes.
  • Must have advanced skills knowledge of MS Office software with emphasis on Excel.
  • Competencies required include being customer focused; having a high level of integrity; effective decision making and teamwork skills; excellent communication skills; being adaptable; results orientated; self-starter and able to manage confidential information.
