In this position, you will lead engineering efforts for our Reno, NV, Lockbourne, OH and China Fulfillment Centers and be responsible for delivering on both previously-defined projects as well as the opportunities you identify as you learn the business and see possibilities through your trained vantage point.
You will own the business! Our team thrives on finding opportunity and picking up the baton and running with it! We allocate funds and resources to impactful work; you will help lead the identification of this work, its justification and scoping, and the subsequent installation to the business.

You will work closely with operations to continuously improve customer service and satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and cost savings. This role will also manage capital projects to support facility and process improvements. You will be responsible for refining and maintaining our methods and measurement program and corresponding labor management system. This role will also support larger automation engineering capital projects as necessary.

Qurate Retail Group has seven retail brands with buildings throughout the globe. In this role you will occasionally be asked to support other buildings through various continuous improvement projects, kaizen events, and other development opportunities.
Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, US Process Improvement, this position will be based in either our Reno, NV or Lockbourne, OH Distribution Center but some travel will be required.

Below are some tasks that make sense for this role. This is a dynamic list which can and will change as the business needs change but during your first year you can expect to:
  • Be responsible for all engineering deliverables within the Fulfillment Center.
  • Conduct direct labor studies using acceptable engineering practices to determine areas for improvement.
  • Assist in preparations of departmental budget, including material, manpower, equipment, and outside procurement costs and operate within approved parameters.
  • Analyze and evaluate distribution methods and standards. Recommend improvements (technology, process, material handling, etc.) to maximize workflow and spatial utilization.
  • Process design and implementation plans that result in improved service, cost savings, or improved quality of services.
  • Provide support for an engineered labor standards program.
  • Update and maintain facility AutoCAD layouts.
  • Partner with Operations to develop preferred methods/Standard Operating Procedures for the warehouse.
  • Increase inventory storage capabilities by improving existing storage utilization as well as introducing new storage systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be able to travel. This is estimated to be 5-15%
What You Bring
  • A BS degree in Industrial Engineering or Operations Research or related disciple is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial engineering experience in high volume warehousing or distribution and successful demonstration of the responsibilities and skillset listed above
  • MBA or MS preferred
  • Maynard Operational Sequence Technique (MOST) Certified
  • Project Management Experience
  • Lean or Six Sigma training
