Job Summary:
The Communications Technology and Channel Specialist enables effective communications to diverse audiences by managing and evolving multiple digital internal communication channels, particularly our communication app and intranet. Both well organized and creative, this digitally savvy communicator shares our passion for technology and understands its capacity to connect and empower people. This key role keeps the communications engine running smoothly, providing essential services such as managing end-to-end mass email processes, performing quality controls and providing training. He/she will help with analysis and reporting on communications effectiveness, team member feedback and channel engagement. The ideal candidate is a team player and strong collaborator with a can-do attitude who will coordinate with colleagues inside and outside the Internal Communications function, including Enterprise Communications, Media, Business Communications, Digital and Content and Operations, as well as IT, service partners and technology vendors. As a member of the Global Internal Communications team, he/she will provide ad-hoc project coordination for communication initiatives and channel enhancements, including project management, plan development, template creation, training and other related communications activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as primary point of contact for communications technology for internal communications, providing technical guidance and recommendations for best approach, timing and channel.
- Builds and deploys appropriate structure for announcements, campaigns, functional pages, etc. and posts all content; participates in the editorial planning process.
- Perform regular site maintenance as needed; troubleshoot issues.
- Liaise with IT and WBA counterparts on site development, new features, etc.
- Work with functional areas on deployment of new content sections; works with WBA Digital Communications team to coordinate training for site editors.
- Oversee intranet site governance, including periodic content reviews, needed maintenance and updating, etc.
- Manage mass mail processes, coordinating scheduling, proofreading, tests, and deployment. Maintains distribution lists and tags, including periodic updates. Works closely with HRIS team to ensure lists are accurate and current.
- Posts all article content on intranet, working with enterprise internal, content team, business and operations communications team to obtain approvals, creative materials and related links and resources.Coordinate communications cadence and distribution with Retail Hub communications team.
- Using Google Analytics as well as application-specific data, monitor and report site usage trends and statistics and comments from all internal channels to understand how messages are landing, how effective our channel strategy is and ultimately to inform overall communications effectiveness. (WBAWW, StoreNet, Poppulo, Yammer, WalkMe, etc.).
- Coordinates the development and support for Yammer, including integration with WBA Worldwide.
- Identifies and recommends new technology applications that will improve communications and team member engagement.
- Write, edit and proof headlines, posts, and responses as needed for diverse communications channels.
External Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1 year of experience or High School Diploma/GED and at least 4 years of experience; the experience should be in corporate communications, marketing or related field.
- At least 1 year working with communications technology and channel management, including intranet platforms (CMS), direct mail systems, and internal social channels.
- Experience planning, developing and implementing communications technology approaches in support of company/corporate communications requirements.
- Experience analyzing site data and making recommendations for improvement in engagement and activation.
- Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Writer, PowerPoint and related visual communications programs.
- Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
- Experience communicating both verbally (on phone, one-on-one, to groups) and in writing (articles, headlines, emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (work group, team, company management, external clients).
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or English with at least 5 years of experience - or - High School Diploma/GED and at least 9 years of experience. The experience should be in corporate communications, marketing or related field.
- At least 3 years working with communications technology and channel management, including intranet platforms (CMS), direct mail systems, and internal social channels.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
- Intermediate level skill in Photoshop.
- Experience in analyzing data and visualizing results using software such as Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint or similar.
- Experience in project management in a communications, marketing or agency department/setting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $76,300.00 - $88,000.00 per year
