Job description
Our Water Southeast Team is seeking a Senior Water Resources Modeler/Engineer to support and lead a variety of water quality, hydrodynamic, and coastal modeling and management projects. In this position, you will apply various types of models (lake/river/estuary/coastal, water quality, sediment transport, waves, hydrodynamic and hydraulic, and/or computational fluid dynamics) to assist clients with environmental compliance, design studies, floodplain management, vulnerability assessments and resiliency plans, and coastal morphological change assessments.
Our team works in a highly collaborative environment, focusing on water resources solutions for local, state, and federal agencies. We are a full-service team that provides project life-cycle solutions through hydrodynamic modeling, watershed assessments and planning, total maximum daily loads (TMDLs), best management practice (BMP) recommendations, design (infrastructure, BMPs, stormwater control measures, dams, smart site design, coastal restoration, resiliency), construction oversight, water quality sampling, and trend monitoring.
We are continually innovating, such as developing three-dimensional models for complex hydraulic problems, new methods for performing geomorphic assessments, modernizing data collection, and leading-edge BMP design solutions. Our team incorporates a “research, develop, and execute” approach that results in real-world solutions that are efficient and sustainable.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and support hydrodynamic, water quality, and coastal model setup, calibration, validation, and application
- Support water resources and coastal engineering projects
- Conduct research related to hydrodynamic, water quality, and coastal management studies
- Analyze hydrodynamic, water quality, and metoceanographic data using GIS and statistical techniques
- Manage and/or contribute to project documentation and deliverables such as memos, reports, and plans
- Develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices
- Lead or assist with quality control and assurance
- Lead projects as a project manager or task manager and manage schedules and budgets to meet or exceed client expectations
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in water resources/environmental/ocean sciences or engineering
- 10+ years of demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience conducting water quality, hydrodynamic, sediment modeling, and coastal studies using public and proprietary domain tools (e.g., EFDC/Delft3D, WASP, XBeach/SBeach, OpenFOAM/FLOW3D)
- Knowledge of computer programming language (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB)
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and ArcGIS
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated interest in emerging topics in water resources and coastal sciences
- Ability to provide technical support for business development and be mentored for future business development initiatives
What We Can Offer You:
- Collaborative work environment and advancement opportunities
- Flexibility that allows our employees to balance quality work and their personal lives and to work remotely
- Multiple office locations, including Atlanta, GA; Jacksonville, FL; Merritt Island, FL; Vero Beach, FL; or Boynton Beach, FL
