We seek a Shipper responsible for managing assigned company facility. Works autonomously to protect all company assets, while making sure all of our customer needs are fulfilled.
SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing assigned company facility. Works autonomously to protect all company assets, while making sure all of our customer needs are fulfilled.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Ensures all products are being delivered on a timely basis.
- Checks codes, freshness and pricing of products on a daily basis.
- Develops/maintains goodwill with customers on behalf of Gold Medal Bakery.
- Ensures all products delivered to the warehouse are accounted for.
- Ensures warehouse floor is swept and clean on a daily basis.
- Checks the docking and outside parking area daily to ensure it is free of debris.
- Collects any outstanding balances due to Gold Medal Bakery.
- Assists and coordinates all pick and sale of products to the IOs.
- Confirms all IO returns for stale credit.
- Processes all sales and stale credit for IOs through the HHC system.
- Collects and centralizes all paperwork to be processed by the Accounting Dept.
- Responds to problems/complaints regarding service and/or product quality and seeks resolutions in a timely manner, or elevates to superior. Must be physically present on the floor when IOs are present.
- Trains/retrains as required by company training guidelines (i.e. annual GMPT).
- Does not change job procedures without authorization from supervision.
- Performs all other related assignments and training of other employees as required, to include emergency deliveries to customers when necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Preparation and Training
A high school level of knowledge of several subjects is required in order to prepare reports, perform calculations, keep records and/or deal effectively with other people.
Work Experience
Ability to work independently without close supervision is required. Prior experience in route delivery is helpful and indicates adaptability to do early morning work and long hours.
Independent Judgment and Consequence of Errors
Independent judgment is often required in safely driving a step van in early morning hours, with varying hazardous conditions due to traffic and weather. Some direct guidance is received from supervision and/or from established procedures and instructions. The consequence of errors may be significant in cost of time, customer service, product appearance and customer/consumer relations.
Contact with Others
Must have the ability to communicate with managers in retail stores. Some contact with other employees during loading, check-in, and cooperative transfer of products.

WORK SCHEDULE
Work schedule is as determined by Supervisor
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects such as trays and dollies.
- Colored sight is needed to distinguish colors for food safety. Perception is required to place, arrange and stack product displays. Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. Visual requirements as normally required of vehicle drivers is necessary.
- Must be capable of moving in and out of a step van and transporting product into stores. Tasks require sitting while driving, standing, walking, squatting, climbing, reaching, twisting, bending, carrying, grasping, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and the ability to push/pull products on docks, ramps and store aisles. Must be able to talk, hear and understand English for safe driving and customer communications.
- Work is in a typical retail store setting.
- Must be able to work courteously and effectively with others, and to assist co-workers as required.
