Position Overview
Coordinate daily outbound and inbound shipments as needed. Communicate daily – internally with customer service, warehouse and production, and externally with carriers.
Essential Duties/Functions
Essential Duties are those that are critical, integral, necessary, crucial, primary, and/or fundamental. These essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform.
- Schedule carrier pick-ups and customer returns as needed
- Receive and process all inbound materials into the ERP system
- Track shipments, prepare daily shipping documents (Pick List, Packing Slip, BOL, customs docs, update weight per gallon for items shipping out)
- Creates international customs invoices and assembles documents for customs clearance.
- Coordinate Fontana warehouse transfers with warehouse and production personnel
- Prepare outgoing FedEx shipments, including dangerous goods
- Get rate quotes for every LTL shipment sent out and compare rates against other carriers to find best rate
- Negotiate freight cost as needed
- Close production batch tickets on a daily basis by entering materials consumed and quantities produced focusing on accuracy and timeliness to ensure inventories are correct.
- Coordinate coil pickups from customers and metal slitters
- Assist in the investigation of damaged and missing drums and help coordinate the return of damaged drums
- Approve freight and FedEx Express charges on 3PL Portal
- Send out batch panels daily
- Maintaining related record keeping functions and files
- Back-up for various production and admin reporting
- Assist in physical inventory tasks as assigned
- Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate shipments
- Review indirect purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy. Place orders with suppliers and follow-up on delivery ETA’s to ensure on-time delivery of supplies and services.
Minimum Requirements
- High school education or GED
Required Training
- Employee must have RCRA hazardous waste training within 6 months of assuming job responsibilities
- Employee must have DOT training to prepare containers for shipment
- Employee must have IATA training
- Employee must complete all online safety training as outlined for the Shipping and Receiving group
- Employee must be trained and competent in all ISO Shipping and Receiving processes
- Employee must have yearly training on emergency planning, including fire safety
- Employee must be familiar with SWPPP
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills – both internal and external
- Ability to work and multitask in a fast paced environment
- Computer literate. Beginner level MS Excel skills are preferred.
- Good problem solver to address freight issues and delays, damages etc.
- Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining and tactful and professional demeanor
- To recognize that health and safety is a responsibility of every employee and to take reasonable care of oneself and others and to comply with Beckers Health and Safety policy and any Beckers procedures/rules that apply to the role. All employees have the responsibility to highlight unsafe conditions and EHS Managers, Officers, Supervisors and above have the responsibility to shut down any activity if it is operating in an unsafe condition
Physical Requirements
- Employee must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, bend, squat, walk and climb
- Employee must reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements
- Employee may be exposed at times to excessive noise, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity
- Employee may be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, and chemicals
- Employee must be able to carry/lift loads of up to 35 lbs.
