Job Description Bishop Hendricken High School seeks a School Social Worker to provide direct clinical support to students with social and emotional barriers in order to deliver Bishop Hendrickens high expectations for development of the total person: heart, mind, soul and body. Requirements: Masters degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or a similar area of study is required. LICSW, LMHC preferred Understanding and commitment to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church. Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred.Experience with safety/suicide assessments, crisis intervention required. Strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position. Strong verbal and written communication skills. A proactive, evidence-based and solution-focused approach to meeting student needs.
Knowledge of specialized content areas related to mental health Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents/guardians, faculty, staff and the community. Work independently, prioritize caseload and perform duties with awareness of Catholic social teachings. Work with students and families of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive manner that bears witness to cultural proficiency and competency. Independently maintain appropriate confidential records.
React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations. Plan, coordinate, conduct and participate in professional development. Plan appropriate interventions and regularly provide support to teachers and school counselors to guide effective academic, behavioral, and social/emotional learning experiences for students. Read, interpret and summarize reports (e.g., neuro/psych/ed evaluations) Responsibilities: To provide: Strategies and preventative interventions for students.
Individual and/or family counseling as appropriate utilizing knowledge and principles of therapeutic relationships, personal and systemic change, and use of problem-solving skills. Crisis intervention including, but not limited to, referrals to outside providers, contact with parent/guardian, DCYF intervention as required by law. Assessment, intervention, and data collection in response to referrals from teachers, school counselors, administrators, students, and families. Identify global areas of need and develop strategies for intervention.
Refer students and families to outside treatment as necessary. Consultation for faculty, administration, and families. Attend Student Support Team (SST) meetings to collaborate with the team on appropriate strategies to assist the referred students and their families. Advocate for students with school counseling, administration, teachers, and families.
Serve as gatekeeper and clinical support for Bridge to Success program, including attending all re-entry meetings. Attend required faculty meetings. Prepare written reports as required. Assist students in identifying and solving emotional and educational barriers.
