NorthWinds Technology was founded by two leaders in the dental insurance industry, Delta Dental of Wisconsin and Delta Dental of Illinois. Our team has grown as we are now partnering with a 3rd Delta Dental: Delta Dental of Virginia. Our teams have come together to provide the technology and platforms for our owner companies to continue being successful. We are seeking a Software Engineer/Developer to join our Product/Mid-Office team. This full time position has the option to be based from any of our home base sites (Stevens Point, WI, Roanoke, VA, or Naperville, IL) but we will consider a candidate who desires to work remotely as well. A Software Engineer at NorthWinds creates, maintains and optimizes software applications for our systems. This role in particular will join our Mid-Office team that works with our production and implementation clients and individual storefront portals. We are seeking a team-oriented, highly-motivated individual with strong analytical, interpersonal and problem solving skills. In this role, we are seeking a skilled full stack Software Engineer in particular with Java Spring Boot and Angular experience and skills.

Software Engineers at NorthWinds Technology Solutions complete the following functions:

• Demonstrate strong software development skills and be able to communicate well with our team and clients.
• Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following software development lifecycle.
• Review, analyze and modify current systems including unit testing and debugging.
• Must meet/exceed and maintain service levels as assigned by management.
• Must record and document all incident issues, project status and resolutions in a ticket tracking system.
• Develop complex queries and reports to support user needs of the organization and clients.
• Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Designs and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clean code.
• Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art developments tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.

Preferred experiences for this role include:

• Transaction and data warehouse data model experience
• Proficient in analyzing and writing complex and optimized queries
• Experience on working on Oracle and other RDBMS eg. Postgres
• Experience working in SAFe Agile model.
• Prior experiences with Cloud based solutions and Micro Service architecture

Associates or better in Computer Science or related field preferred.

5 years: Prior Java Spring Boot Development experience

3-5 years: Prior Angular UI Development experience

5 years: Full Stack Development experience

1 year: Prior experience working in SAFe methodology/environment preferred
