Penworthy is looking to hire a full time individual to handle our bookkeeping and human resource activities. Penworthy, a children’s book and educational kit distributor, has an excellent reputation in the marketplace for over 40 years and is based in Milwaukee’s trendy Third Ward.

Attributes of a strong candidate:

· The ideal candidate will possess a strong general bookkeeping background.

· Proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of formulas is required.

· Self-starter and natural problem solver.

· Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to multi-task.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Maintain and process all general ledger transactions. Balance general ledger and reconcile entries.

· Experience with inventory reconciliation is beneficial

· Handle bi-monthly payroll processing.

· Experience in month end close from start to finish.

· Experience with sales tax usage

· Process and receive inventory into system via purchase orders.

· Process AP into the system and process payments.

· Assist with audit/tax accountants as required.

· Execute AR banking deposits.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Associates or Bachelors degree is strongly preferred.

· Minimum 7 years of bookkeeping experience including all components of accounting.

· Ability to effectively manage time.

· Competency in Excel and Microsoft Office.

· Knowledge of SAGE 100 is helpful.
