Job Overview:

We are currently seeking to fill a full-time position for a Sr Cloud Security Engineer with our Security Architecture Engineering team, part of LPL’s Technology Information Security organization. This individual will be investigating and analyzing existing cloud structures and creating new and enhanced security methods that will enhance the security of cloud-based environments. Will oversee managing and executing technologies and processes that affect assigned global Information Protection capability, such as issue identification and resolution, documentation, integration with other tools, gap resolution, gap assessment, and continuous improvement of the capability. Will be responsible for keeping the infrastructure current, making recommendations, and participating in the implementation and continuous improvement of technologies and services in assigned information security domains. Will provide guidance on security strategies, processes, response and technologies to Security Architecture and other teams. Will provide support on incident response on security incidents and participate in the development of business cases and presentations on information security technologies of interest to the company.

The Sr Cloud Security Engineer will report to the AVP of Cloud / Network Security and will be an involved member of the SecArc Engineering team. The individual fulfilling this role must display an in-depth understanding of new trends and technologies related to Cloud, security, networking, and compliance and contribute to the firm’s IT security strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the thorough documentation of implementations, via technical documentation and run-books.

  • Responsible for input and feedback on security architectures

  • Apply adept understanding and experience with systems automation platforms and technologies.

  • Partake in efforts that shape the organization’s security policies and standards for use in cloud environments.

  • Direct and influence multi-disciplinary teams in implementing and operating Cyber Security controls.

  • Collaborate with application developers and database administrators to deliver creative solutions to difficult technology challenges and business requirements.

  • Execute security architectures for cloud, hybrid/cloud systems.

  • Responsible for automating security controls, data, and processes to provide improved metrics and operational support.

  • Employ cloud-based APIs when suitable to write network/system level tools for safeguarding cloud environments.

  • Stay abreast of emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.

  • Spot and execute new security technologies and best practices into the company’s Cloud offerings.

  • Evaluate security posture, create reports, and make recommendations as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational security rules and standards.

  • Coordinate response to information security incidents.

  • Member of on-call rotation.

  • Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

  • Create, update, and maintain security architecture standards and best practices.

  • Conduct authorized cloud security assessments on a schedule basis and report the gaps in a meaningful way with potential solutions.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience conducting security assessments on AWS and Azure/Office 365

  • 5+ years of experience with Linux and Windows operating systems and cloud provider ecosystems like Amazon AWS

  • 5+ years’ experience designing and deploying micro services architectures (AWS EKS, Docker, etc.)

  • 5+ years extensive experience architecting, designing, and programming applications and ample experience in high level programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Visual Basic

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information to the relevant audience. Also require exceptional written communication skills, documentation, and reporting

  • Teamwork abilities: Team-oriented individual with priority on the successful completion of group goals

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Practical knowledge of AWS and Azure foundation services related to compute, network, storage, content delivery, administration and security, deployment and management, automation technologies.

  • Experiencing architecting highly available scalable systems

  • DevOps know-how, Infrastructure as Code deployments, build and test automation solutions like terraform, ansible, chef, puppet, jenkins, etc.

  • Familiarity using AWS Cloud Services (EC2, DynamoDB, API Gateway, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Route 53, etc.)

  • Understanding of complex enterprise environments and current technology areas like cloud and mobility

  • Certification: Applicants for the cloud security architect position must have CISSP or equivalent security-related industry certifications and AWS Professional level Certification

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills: Must have the necessary technical skills to constantly monitor systems to identify threats and vulnerability, execute security architecture, and ensure there are no external threats.

  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures, design, and workload transition challenges

  • Familiar with the AWS Well-Architected framework; experience with framework reviews and adoption


Pay Range:

$90,000-$135,000/year

The salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including the applicant’s skill, experience, and work location.
