Position Summary

Drive Footwear product development from brief to Confirm for Production (Buy ready). In this role you are responsible for building and supporting overall footwear cross-functional teams with the best in class of fit & comfort, performance, and create a world class footwear. Focus on the development through footwear best practices/standards, and find technical solutions, build at cost, project management, UA’s sustainability strategy, and inherence to product integrity via consumer satisfaction and UA’s Footwear requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Displays a strong understanding of advanced concepts of blueprints, shell patterns, materials, footwear manufacturing, mold making, costing and product testing.
  • Collaborates with design to drive the product creation process forward by maintaining and creating tech packages for assigned projects, including blueprints, shell patterns, color cads, material maps, VR samples, and maintaining style BOMs through to the buy-ready milestones.
  • Consistently supports the implementation of new innovations
  • Contributes to the product creation process by providing costing, performance, and technical solutions to creative ideas
  • Continuously updates all necessary product information within the Centric PLM System
  • Clear and detailed daily communication with our sourcing teammates to drive projects towards buy ready
  • Initiate and lead meetings with product teams during various phases of development to review, evaluate, update, and ultimately drive the decision-making process that leads to on–time buy ready and achieves margin goals
  • Collaborate with the product testing team to make informed revisions throughout various sample stages
  • Strong understanding of the footwear industry and the competitive set
  • Lead International development trips as necessary to work with manufacturers and suppliers on existing and current development projects
  • Responsible for mentorship of other development teammates

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Advanced knowledge of Footwear product development and manufacturing
  • Current computer hardware and software proficiency
  • Ability to work professionally and efficiently cross-functionally across Under Armour, including Design, Marketing, Production, and Operations
  • Strong understanding of the working methods and cultural norms of source countries
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Education And / Or Experience

  • 8 +years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Footwear/Textile Design, Biomechanical/Industrial/or Chemical Engineering or a related field preferred not required

Other Requirements

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Portland Office
  • Work Designation: 3 days a week in-office, the remainder of work week remote.
  • Travel: 5% of the year (International and/or Domestic)
  • Program Experience: Microsoft Suite, Adobe Illustrator, or 3D viewer, and Centric

Relocation

  • Relocation may be provided up to a certain amount
  • Base salary range: $118,578.00- $163,045.30

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual’s relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
