Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for Sr Eng II - Principal Procurement Engineer opportunities for our customer in Richland, WA to support the Waste Treatment Plant at the Hanford Site.

This position is a part-time role that offers full-time telework.

Sr Eng II - Principal Procurement Engineer

PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Located in Southeastern Washington State, on the Hanford reservation, Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The WTP project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.

This position is located at the WTP Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4x10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work weekends as needed. This position will be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.

The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.

JOB SUMMARY:
As a Principal Procurement Engineer, you will be working as part of the Engineering team that implements the WTP Engineering CGD process. The ideal candidate will have a detailed experience in several areas, including: engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance requirements associated with the nuclear CGD process.

Responsibilities:
The specific responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to: providing expertise necessary to develop and implement procurement strategies, performing failure mode analyses on safety-related items and equipment, develop commercial grade dedication strategies, directly interfacing with the WTP supply chain, reviewing diverse manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, heat treating, factory acceptance testing), implementing detailed requirements associated with quality assurance (e.g., NQA-1, DOE 414.1D, ISO-9000), and applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section VIII, ANSI B31.3, AWS D1.1/D1.6).

The Principal Procurement Engineering role includes working under the direction of a supervisor implementing the CGD process, which includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Performing detailed technical evaluations of both simple and complex items (mechanical, electrical, structural, and instrumentation and controls)
  • Developing and optimizing procurement strategies
  • Performing failure analysis of safety-related items and equipment
  • Developing detailed critical characteristics, acceptance criteria, and acceptance methods based on project requirements and supplier capabilities.
  • Performing detailed reviews of supplier CGD programs, process
  • Developing CGD Survey and Source Verification criteria
  • Partnering with suppliers on CGD and other supply chain issues to ensure success.
  • Performing detailed technical and quality reviews of supplier’s CGD quality documentation
  • Interfacing with the Department of Energy.

To ensure successes, the Principal Procurement Engineer should possess detailed knowledge of all phases of the CGD process used at nuclear power plants and/or nuclear waste applications including NQA-1 (2004-2012), EPRI Reports: 5652, 6406, 17218, 112579, along with other industry codes and standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. in Engineering or Science discipline plus 10 years of CGD experience; or 15 plus years of nuclear experience
  • Detailed knowledge and actual experiences with CGD processes in NRC or DOE regulated facilities
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft office products (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Previous Bechtel project experience
  • Previous DOD/DOE project experience
  • Familiarity with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
  • Quality Assurance experience
