Responsibilities:
Beech Acres Parenting Center (“The Beech” as we like to call it!) is looking to add an experienced Sr. SQL Developer who is passionate about gathering and preparing data to support our mission to serve the developmental needs of children and the skills and wellbeing of their caregivers. This will involve SQL development using a wide range of T-SQL coding skills, strategies, and techniques to produce the data sets used by our internal software applications, SQL Server Reporting Services, and by staff members as needed on an ad-hoc basis. This role will also support all data facets of the agency enterprise data warehouse, from ETL and Integration development to end user query development. Finally, this role will perform database administrative tasks and user application support as needed.

A typical day will include:
  • Develop and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • EDI Development – working with third party API interfaces to extract data from remote systems.
  • Assist in custom SQL development to provide enhancements to agency’s core applications.
  • Develop custom SQL scripts to provide solutions for specific agency data needs and/or challenges.
  • Develop and maintain ETL data flows to support agency data warehouse.
  • Understand dimensional modeling fundamentals as needed to develop efficient data warehouse queries.
  • Develop and maintain SSRS reports as needed to support various business areas.
  • Monitor nightly database backups and general database health.
  • Manage database security as needed.
  • Work closely with agency staff to understand business processes and data requirements that will aid in the delivery of information (automated when possible) to support our staff in making data-driven/informed decisions.
  • Monitor incoming reporting requests and assist with application/admin support.
  • This can be a hybrid position after training is completed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience and/or certifications.
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Strong T-SQL skills required, with 2+ years of T-SQL experience preferred.
  • Understanding of SQL Server Relational Database objects and concepts, including schemas, tables (physical, temporary, and derived), views, indexes, stored procedures, UDF types, triggers, and DB links.
  • Understanding of data warehouse concepts, including dimensional data modeling/architecture, dimensional data conformance and integration, and complex ETL processes supporting slowly changing dimensions.
  • Familiarity with DBA activities, including backup and restore procedures, security management, database file management, consistency checks, and index maintenance.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Certification (2008 R2 or higher) is a plus.
