Costco Wholesale is looking for a Storage Engineer, who wants the opportunity to design and implement highly-scalable storage solutions within a large enterprise environment and drive Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) initiatives. The Storage Engineer is responsible for the design, technical administration, support and maintenance of an enterprise Storage Area Network infrastructure. The Storage Engineer will be involved in strategic planning and implementation, capacity planning, daily monitoring and tracking, auditing, consultation with other departments to resolve issues and concerns, and analyzing and recommending system changes. They will install, configure, upgrade, and support SAN and NAS environments. The primary responsibility for this position will be SAN engineering.

ROLE
Builds prototypes of potential features.
Formulates and directs activities that align short term goals and long term initiatives while providing accurate and timely estimates of work breakdown schedules.
Shares relevant information among teams.
Runs proof of concepts and uses diagnostic/debugging skills to solve current challenges in multi-platform systems
Provides leadership/mentoring to team members, implements development efficiencies, creates appropriate documentation, drives operational efficiencies, and technical growth within the team and supports the release model.
Provides technical leadership in the implementation of applications, strategic planning sessions, documentation of requirements, tool implementation, database query languages, and programming languages.
Uses subject matter expertise to support industry standard source control and source change management techniques.
Designs storage solutions based on best practices for scale up and out.
Works with vendors to understand the applications, strategies, and roadmaps for current, updated, and emerging technologies.
Drives automation initiatives for storage creation, configuration, and provisioning.
Develops business cases to justify strategic investment in systems architecture, including analysis of future growth and cost reduction opportunities.
Provides technical engineering and design reviews for new storage platforms, applications, infrastructure, and hardware.
Identifies and reports Key Performance Indicators, focusing on capacity planning, and performance analysis.
Provision, maintain, and provide Storage Area Network support in a heterogeneous platform environment (Windows, Linux, VMware, AIX, i5/OS)
Manages the environment for storage allocation, data replication, monitoring, performance and capacity analysis.
Provides support for troubleshooting and problem resolution related to storage devices and host connectivity.
Tests and implements new tools to better manage storage infrastructure.
Documents storage administration processes/procedures to ensure optimal levels of support.
Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes required for system growth by utilizing industry standard monitoring and research tools.
Implements policies, procedures, and technologies and follows established security standards.
Cross-functional collaboration to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate storage to meet business demands.
REQUIRED
Experience with SAN/NAS administration that includes provisioning, administering, and tuning SAN environments for a large enterprise environment.
Experience with data migration and replication.
Experience automating existing processes with scripting in PowerShell and Unix shell.
Experience with Enterprise NAS such as VNX, Unity, and NetApp.
Current hands-on experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
Experience working with Fibre Channel SAN, CIFS, and NFS based storage arrays.
Experience implementing hybrid-cloud storage solutions within an enterprise environment.
Comfortable making scripted changes across a large enterprise environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service focus.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
Provides 24x7x365 on-call support, weekends and/or holidays, as necessary.
Recommended
EMC and/or NetApp Proven Professional preferred.
Experience with Cisco SAN.
Experience with EMC Symmetrix VMAX platform, IBM SVC and EMC VPLEX storage virtualization.
Experience configuring and managing PowerPath, Unisphere, and SRDF.
Experience with enterprise-level server virtualization technologies such as VMware.

Pay Ranges:
Level 2 - $145,000 - $175,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
Level 3 - $165,000 - $195,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
