Assists Oral Surgeon and General Dentist during oral surgical procedures to ensure the highest quality of care is provided. Assists with clinical and technical procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed surgeon or dentist. Prepare operatory, instruments and equipment for treatment. Seat, drape, and prepare patient for surgical procedures. Provide clear post-op instructions to parent, patient, or escort.

Job Duties

• Prepares all treatment rooms in advance for each patient.
• Changes all chemical solutions, i.e., disinfectant soaks and sprays, sterilant, ultrasonic, presoak.
• Handles hazardous chemicals in a safe manner.
• Seats patients in designated treatment rooms in a timely fashion.
• Reviews medical history, progress from the previous visit, if applicable, and the scheduled treatment plan with each patient.
• Takes x-rays prescribed by provider.
• Assists the doctor in all oral surgery procedures by passing instruments, aspirating intra-oral fluids, mixing materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant or a Certified Dental Assistant in state working
• CPR Required.
• Trained by an Accredited Dental Assistant School preferred
• 3+ years Assisting in Oral Surgery a plus.
