Robotic Research Autonomous Industries (RRAI) is looking for a Systems Test Engineer. The Test Engineer will have a background in EE or ME, some form of automation experience and be able to learn or have a current understanding of perception, motion control and localization.

RRAI designs, builds, and deploys autonomous and robotic solutions for some of the hardest problems in defense and commercial autonomous vehicles. In our fast pace environment, we're looking for strong critical assessment skills and the ability to work in an agile environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Reviewing design and architecture of the vehicle platform
  • Developing test plans and procedures to fully test products and systems
  • Developing and executing vehicle integration plans and test plans
  • Training and supporting the test technicians conducting product and system testing
  • Supporting design and development activities to ensure manufacturability and testability concerns are addressed.
  • Analyzing test data to identify possible improvements to product designs and processes.
  • Defining diagnostic test requirements for vehicle integration testing
  • Collaborating with multi-functional teams, including system engineering, software engineering, mechanical/thermal engineering, operations, external vendors, and other partners to successfully bring-up prototype and development vehicles
  • Debugging, triaging issues, performing root cause analysis, and identifying solutions
  • Validating the vehicle platform to meet the specifications (Power, electrical and functionality)
  • Designing and developing test hardware including test fixtures, and automated test equipment. This includes selecting test equipment and designing test stations, cables, and test interface adapters.
  • Writing software to automate test procedures and data collection, suitable for test technicians to operate with minimal training.
  • Additional duties may include some Systems Engineering tasks such as:
  • Understand and verify traceability of system requirements to test plans and procedures.
  • Developing hardware and software, interface control specifications
  • Writing requirements and performance specifications
  • Creating system interconnect and architecture diagrams

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Experience and knowledge around instrumentation using a wide variety of sensors (strain gauges, thermocouples, load cells, etc.).
  • Hands on. You are just as comfortable with a wrench as a keyboard. You are confident with automotive electronics and are familiar with communication protocols and tools such as Ethernet, CAN, LIN, 100BASE-T1
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB and/or other programming languages suitable for data collection and analysis
  • Working understanding of command-line Linux or similar operating system
  • Candidate should be a flexible team player with good oral and written communication skills, and able to work effectively in a very fast-paced environment with team members from many different disciplines

Education & Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or Computer Science.
  • Junior positions require some experience in a development or production program, working in a Systems, Test, Quality and/or Product Engineering role.
  • Mid-level positions require 5+ years of experience in in system test, automation, and root-cause analysis in fields similar in complexity to autonomous driving.
  • Senior positions require 10+ years of experience in system test, automation, and root-cause analysis in fields similar in complexity to autonomous driving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO-26262, ISO-21448, MIL-STD-882, or similar safety specifications
  • Experience with specifications applicable to military ground vehicles including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-1275.
  • Experience with FCC Part 15, UL and/or CE certification testing.
  • Experience with Altium, Eagle, or similar schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • Experience with the design and development of complex systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS 9100.
  • Experience with autonomous robotic systems
